June drew out his phone and answered the call, walked a little away as
Shawn waited for him.

“Shawn, I have to go meet Mr. Raymond’s client. Shall I drop you
home?” He asked, keeping the phone in his pocket.

“No. Your company is on the opposite side, take care.” He said and June
nodded smiling.

“Don’t worry much, okay?” He said and Shawn nodded as he drove off,
he ran to the lane and found Gabriella under a shop’s roof talking on her
phone, to hear her, he sneaked closer but she didn’t notice him.

“I am not jumping off the cliff,” Her voice was panicky and breathy.

“I- I can’t breathe, even- even though I am I can’t properly, my- my head
is dizzy.” Shawn crinkled his eyes and noticed her hands trembling as
she brushed them through her hairs.

“Couldn’t care less? Sure- I – I haven’t had a single panic attack- my –
entire life.” Her tone getting breathy and unsteady.

“Shawn- Shawn might have left and I can’t breathe so I can’t find him.”
She turned back and Shawn turned his back at her, contemplating it
might be June, but he left to the company, then who was she calling?
Shawn’s curiosity rose.

“Luna…I can’t be caught having one in front of her!!” She rushed out
and Shawn followed her and examined the empty road, he looked
forward and his lips parted with his fingers finding its way to mute the
gasp, urging to leave his throat.

Wrong and Wrong, everything’s wrong.

June’s house, the best escaping place for Shawn sadly someone had to be
there except June and Samuel, Warner and Song, 5 years since he last saw his face, oblong face, sleepy small eyes and Warner, the heartthrob
of Fumi School, Lily deserves better, he thought and cleared his throat
signaling June for an explanation, tired of staring at un-welcoming
Warner’s face.

“You’re here?” June to Warner,

“I came to talk to him.” Gesturing his head at Samuel, who was sat on
the couch along with Song.

“I don’t want to.” Samuel smiled, blinked his eyes and looked away.

“Huh? What was that?” June raised his eye-brows at Samuel, nothing, he
turned to Warner.

Nothing.

“Will someone tell me? Song?” Song jerked up from the couch, how
come he seems so different? Where is the mischievous grin? Did he mature in these 5 years, Shawn examined him acting like he doesn’t
recognize him, they were friends before, good friends indeed.

Gabriella bullied him.

“Are you or are you not helping Cody and the commissioner?” A pause,

“What!” Shawn’s eye-brows furrowed, his hands in the air to grasp the
question. Samuel looked at Shawn and then at Song.

“No.”

“Okay.” Song nodded, firmly he inhaled “How much did they pay you and,”

“What is the golden bird?” Shawn felt a sense of betrayal in his heart,

was Samuel paid? All the caring words were to cover up his plan,
eyes on him he waited for his answer.

“Stop lying! I heard Matt’s conversation.” Warner yelled as June held him back, he scoffed.

“You’re involved with Matt? You were paid!” Hysteria filling up Shawn’s mind, his shoulders turned stiff.

Samuel got up, he bit his inner
cheek and said,

“I don’t know any golden bird,” He imparted to Song and looked at
Shawn,

“I was not paid or involved with Matt.”

Warner laughed an angry laugh and wended forward,

“Really? Then why did you warned me to keep my mouth shut?”

June tilted his head, shook his head a few times and Shawn’s mind
raced with millions of questions.

You did what?” June asked, his voice lower than everyone. Samuel
opened his mouth and closed and finally spoke,

“You can check my financial history. I have not been paid, trust me.”

Samuel sighed.

“Why would he lie?” June’s voice still lower, same question Shawn had,
why would Warner lie? Samuel exhaled, fingers in a fist.

“Do you think I would be stupid enough to fight your case?” Right, a
pause

“Then why Matt demanded his share?” Warner crossed his arms, Shawn raised his eye-brow at Samuel, the chances of his friendship shattering into pieces and Shawn’s hand around Samuel’s throat.

“Your father offered me the money because he knew I was aware about
the objects deceived to be used by you.”

The memories flashed clear,
how his father let him get beaten up, for his mistakes, for his crime

.
“I happened to get his share and that is the reason he called me,” He
looked at Shawn and Warner.

“He found out about Cody and the commissioner hiring me as their
Lawyer.”

Guilt covered Shawn’s whole body, he doubted his friend, he doubted Samuel and he was just helping him.

“I didn’t want Shawn to find out, I saw him suffer and keeping it a secret
was the best option.” June patted Shawn’s shoulder.

“Mom was right, they could stoop so low.” Warner scoffed sitting on the
couch.

“You kept the money?” June asked sitting beside Shawn.

No. I gave it away.”

“You mean Matt has the golden bird?” Shawn asked, uncertain as
Samuel shrugged his shoulders.

Maybe or maybe not.”

“We have to be careful.” June advised and they along with Shawn nod in agreement.
