Preeti’s Real-Life StrugglesPreeti sat at her usual spot in the café, staring blankly at her laptop screen. Her thoughts kept drifting back to Adi, and the void left by his absence weighed heavily on her. The café, once a place of solace and quiet anticipation, now felt empty and dreary. Even the presence of her colleagues and the hum of regular customers couldn’t lift her spirits.
She found herself distracted at work, making mistakes she never used to make. Her boss noticed her decline in performance and called her in for a meeting.
“Preeti, is everything okay? Your work hasn’t been up to your usual standards,” her boss said, concern etched on her face.
Preeti sighed, forcing a smile. “I’m sorry, I’ve just been dealing with some personal issues. I promise I’ll get back on track.”
Her boss nodded sympathetically. “Take care of yourself. If you need some time off, don’t hesitate to ask.”
Preeti nodded, grateful for the understanding, but she knew that time off wouldn’t change the emptiness she felt. Her evenings were spent in front of her computer, logging into Age of Wushu Dynasty and wandering aimlessly through the virtual world. Without Adi, the game felt incomplete.
In her loneliness, she confided in Sashi. “Sashi, I don’t know what to do. I miss Adi so much. The game doesn’t feel the same, and I can’t focus on anything in real life either.”
Sashi had been keeping Adi’s secret but seeing Pink’s struggle made her reconsider. “Pink, I need to tell you something. Adi’s account got hacked, but he’s still here, just with a new ID. He didn’t want to tell you because he wanted to tease you, but it’s gone too far.”
Preeti’s eyes widened in shock. “What? He’s still here? Why didn’t he just tell me?”
Sashi sighed. “He thought it would be fun, but he didn’t realize how much it would affect you. He’s really sorry, Pink.”
Relief and anger mixed in Preeti’s heart. She felt a surge of emotions—relief that Adi was still around, but anger that he had kept it from her. “I need to talk to him,” she said determinedly.
Abeer’s New Journey with Jia
Meanwhile, Abeer, now known as Austin in the game, was grinding through levels in the Suzhou Safe Zone when he received a message.
“Hey Austin, it’s Jia. I knew it was you.”
Abeer was taken aback. “How did you know?”
Jia laughed. “You have a unique way of playing, and I recognized your style. Plus, you’re the only one who could get this far this fast.”
Relieved and somewhat intrigued, Abeer accepted her friendship. Jia was a formidable player, and her experience helped him level up quickly. She guided him through difficult quests, provided him with rare items, and shared valuable strategies. Her presence was both comforting and challenging, and Abeer found himself enjoying their interactions.
Jia was also quite flirtatious. “You know, Austin, you’re pretty good at this. I like a guy who can keep up with me,” she teased during one of their joint quests.
Abeer, still getting used to the new dynamic, responded awkwardly. “Uh, thanks. You’re amazing at this too.”
Jia’s laughter echoed through the game. “You’re cute when you’re flustered. Maybe we should team up more often.”
Abeer felt a mix of excitement and nervousness. He appreciated Jia’s help and enjoyed their time together, but his mind often drifted back to Pink. Despite his new friendship, there was a void that Jia couldn’t fill.
Preeti’s Confrontation
One evening, Preeti logged into the game and saw Austin and Jia together in the Suzhou Safe Zone. She felt a pang of jealousy seeing them so close. Gathering her courage, she sent Austin a private message.
“Austin, we need to talk. It’s Pink.”
Abeer’s heart skipped a beat. He had been dreading this moment but knew it was inevitable. He responded quickly, “Sure, Pink. Where can we meet?”
They met in a secluded part of the game, away from the bustling crowds. Preeti’s character, Pink, approached Austin, her virtual steps heavy with emotion.
“Why didn’t you tell me it was you?” she typed, her frustration evident.
Abeer took a deep breath before replying. “I wanted to surprise you, to tease you a bit. I didn’t realize how much it would hurt you. I’m really sorry, Pink.”
Preeti’s anger softened as she read his words. “I was so worried. I thought I lost you for good. Why would you do something like that?”
“I never meant to hurt you,” Abeer responded. “I just wanted to see your reaction. I know it was stupid, and I’m really sorry.”
Preeti sighed, feeling the weight of their misunderstanding lift. “I missed you, Adi. The game isn’t the same without you.”
“I missed you too, Pink,” Abeer typed back, feeling a mix of relief and guilt. “Can we start over?”
Preeti paused before replying, “I think we can. But no more secrets, okay?”
“Promise,” Abeer replied, his heart lightening at her words.
Their avatars stood together, a new understanding blossoming between them. Despite the virtual nature of their connection, the emotions felt real and deep. They had navigated through misunderstandings and challenges, emerging with a stronger bond.
As they resumed their adventures together, Preeti felt a renewed sense of joy in the game. She was still struggling with her real-life challenges, but having Adi back brought a spark of happiness she desperately needed.
Abeer, too, felt a sense of closure and new beginnings. His journey with Jia had been interesting, but it was Pink’s companionship that he valued the most. They had both learned valuable lessons, and their friendship emerged stronger, ready to face whatever came next.
