Nadia Novak was in one of the mechanic hangers, checking out some of the base vehicles for maintenance. She was one of the head mechanics, despite her younger age.

But her scores in college and practical application beat out even some of the experienced mechanics.

Nadia dedicated herself to the safety of machines such as aircrafts and larger vehicles because she's been at the mercy of them before.

You see, when Nadia was in high school, she was on a school trip, and the plane hit a bad storm. She and her classmates were stranded for over a month on an island, surviving off the land and with each other.

So when they were rescued and she came home, Nadia was determined to make sure something like that would never happen again. (Of course, it was all a freak accident, but she could make improvements to assist.)

Unfortunately, just before they were rescued, Nadia got a cut that became badly infected. No matter what the doctors tried, they couldn't save it. They only had one option.

Nadia's leg was amputated.

She lost her leg, below the knee. But it was still a big adjustment. Prosthetic legs were cycled through, trying to find the best fit and with multiple for different occasions.

And since Nadia wore pants at work, most people didn't even know she was an amputee.

But her best friend, a woman by the name of Ivy Finch, knew it all. She knew about the incident, she knew about the leg, she knew about Nadia's ptsd. And she did everything she could to be there for her friend.

So when Nadia was laser focused on her work and didn't notice her superior trying to get her attention, Ivy saved her ass.

“Dia! You're being paged!”

Nadia rolled out from under the car and sat up. She quickly wiped away some of the grease from her hands and made her way over to the older man.

“Novak, you're getting a special assignment.” He didn't beat around the bush. Her boss wasn't exactly a delicate man. He was blunt and told you as it was. Nadia appreciated that. She had had enough people tiptoeing around subjects for the rest of her life.

But now she raises an eyebrow in curiosity. “Assignment, sir?”

He nodded. “A hush-hush mission has Top Gun calling in some old graduates. And they are in need of a mechanical liaison. I recommended you, and they agreed.”

To say Nadia was stunned was an understatement. “Me, sir? Aren't there at least three other people more qualified than I am for this type of thing?”

Her boss shrugged. “They may have been here longer, but they don't know their way around the jets like you do. I wouldn't have recommended you if I didn't think you could do it.”

Nadia's lips spread into an almost face splitting smile. “Thank you, sir. I won't let you down.”

He dismisses her, and she goes back to her station, practically floating back to Ivy.

Ivy, despite her best efforts, was too far away, and it was too loud for her to hear what they were saying. “So?! What did he want?!”

“For the time being, I'm the official mechanic for Top Gun.”

We are HERE!! I love Nadia with all my heart, she is my baby.

Bit of a different intro, normally I have the main couple interacting, but this is really my first ‘they meet during the mission’ type of story. So bear with me, as I navigate a new relationship.

And as has been stated, this story is connected to the show Flight 29 Down. A VERY basic summary of the show was given, but I loved that show so much. It may be horribly by today's standards, but I ate that shit up as a child, let me tell you.

Anyway, hope you liked this little peak into Nadia and the peep of Ivy.

See you for the first official chapter soon. Bye guys!!!

 Bye guys!!!
