The day after

The day following that fiasco was a strange one, upon waking up we had to re-tell the story of what happened to Elliot, due to him being completely unable to recall any of last nights events. This proved extremely difficult due to the extreme headache he was now sporting.

It wasn't long after el was caught up that Finn made his way silently downstairs and into the kitchen where we sat. He remained silent as he boiled the kettle and made a cup of strong tea- splash of milk, no sugar. I could tell Nathan Elliot and Seb desperately wanted to question him about last nights events, but thankfully they all had the common sense to keep their mouths firmly shut.

We watched in silence as Finn made his way back out the kitchen, and heard the creaking as he trudged his way up the stairs.

Nathan: hmm

Seb: he seems cheerful

Elliot: oh yeah, practically jumping off the walls

Me: oh shut it guys

Just then Roger made his way into the room, a look of grim acceptance on his face

Roger: well, it's over between them, heard him telling one of his mates on the phone

Elliot: shittt

Seb: you think he'll be ok

Nathan cuts Roger off before he can reply

Nathan: he's Finn. He'll be fine.

Roger: I'm sure he will, shame though, she was a nice girl

I hadn't really thought about the fact that the girl I had sort of grown to be friends with, was now out of my life for good. Huh.

Me: yeah... yeah she was

Nathan: well she had a problem with Finn being close with Iz so she wasn't worth it

Seb: exactly, you got a problem with Dora, you got a problem with every one of us

Me: Oh come on guys, you can't tell me you wouldn't have a problem with the person you're dating spending your birthday with another person

At this they go silent

Don't get me wrong, I love how much they care. But I don't want them to feel the need to protect me and sacrifice for me.

Seb: you think this is gonna affect his exams?

Roger: good point bash. I wish I knew. I hope not. I trust him not to let it get to his head

Nathan: he'll be alright, he's smart as anything

Elliot: pleaaaase it's only GCSE's... they're not that important

Me: not to you. But to him they are. You know he wants to do well.

It's then when a voice sounds from the hallway by the kitchen

Finn: I'll be fine.

Roger: Finn I didn't see you there-

But he's gone.

Well, now you're up to date. That's why Finlay winters is now single, and why Isadora Hartley is to blame. And why Elliot winters shouldn't be left unnatended at a party...

I know Finn will be ok, he's got his exams to focus on anyway, and I don't think him and Amber ever really... clicked all that much to be honest. On paper they seemed perfect, but there always seemed to be an undertone of... awkwardness?
