Ruby was working her last shift of the night. If only this couple at the back would stop bugging her for the menu.
At this point, all she wanted was to go home to her boyfriend and her cats.
"The bill, please?" Says another whiny couple which she just can't stand right now. Ruby quickly makes her way over and after dealing with them she enters the staff bathroom.
She touches up her lipstick in the mirror and she sees a man in the reflection walking in behind her. He doesn't work here, she thinks to herself. Who is he?
"Hi, I'm ruby. Are you new here?"
He turns around and Ruby is struck with his almost overwhelming aroma of bergamot and vanilla. His eyes, bright turquoise, glisten under the mirrors light. His tall figure towered over her, yet their eyes met so perfectly. Ruby almost forgot about her boyfriend.
"Hi, I'm Mateo. I just got here, would you mind showing me the ropes?"
Ruby wouldn't mind helping with something else.
