it was another day of aimlessly roaming around the streets for the young boy to escape the hellhole he faced at home. he wore a hood that covered his head to better hide his bruises that were caused by the endless beating from his father. his hands held onto a couple of dollars that he had secretly saved behind his father's back, hoping he could buy something that he could call his own. the blond kid stopped in his tracks when he looked into a store through the glass windows.

it was a soccer ball on sale, it was just the exact amount he had. without much thought, he bought it. with no clue nor know anything about soccer at all. he made his way to the a nearby playground where he started to test out his new toy. however due to his lack of skill, he didn't know how to do much.

" why did i even buy this, its useless " kaiser thought.

" do you even know how to play soccer? " an unfamiliar voice echoed, followed by a chuckle by the same person as she smiled and look at the boy who was around her age.

" watch this " the girl dribbled his ball before kicking a powerful shot onto the wall infront of them, the impact causing the ball to fly back while kaiser watched her in awe. she was a girl at his age yet she looked like she definitely has somewhat of an idea of what soccer is.

" thats amazing " he spoke out.

" really? i see my brother did this quite a lot, hes in his school soccer team. he also taught me a little bit of soccer " after explaining she showed him a genuine smile. kaiser never interacted with any kids his age. considering the fact that his family was too poor to send him to school which was the result of why he didn't have any friends at all.

" i can show you some " she offered. the two spend their afternoon playing soccer by themselves. surprisingly, for the first time in kaiser's life, it felt fun. someone who didn't look down on him for wearing clothes that didn't seem the most trendy nor looked presentable. soon after a long session, they plopped onto the ground together beside each other, panting and sweaty.

" soccer is amazing " the blond boy said as he continued to gasp for air.

" my name is y/n, i like you, from now on you're my friend " for kaiser, it was the first time he has ever had a friend, he was slightly sceptical.

" kaiser " he introduced.

" you have amazing potential " all these phrases were new to kaiser. all his life, he was only ever called useless and worthless. his mother left him at a young age, his father abused him. he was basically an unwanted child.

" see you " y/n stood up waving before she left the playground to held home. kaiser thought this might just be a one time thing of actually having someone to play with him but little did he know it was only the beginning.

for the next few days, they coincidentally kept seeing each other at the same playground and at the same time, which they usually just end up playing together or just chatting to each other. those days turned to months and months turned to years. without fail the playground had turned into their spot and eventually, they became inseparable.

-

" why do you always come here with all these bruises. " they were now 15 years old. although being friends for that long, kaiser had never opened up to y/n about his father's behaviour. overtime, y/n constantly helped him with his bruises.

" im clumsy " a pretty lame excuse but it works every time causing her to sigh. if there was one person who understood kaiser, it was y/n and if there was one word he felt towards her it was gratitude. she was the first and only person who made him feel acknowledged. least to say anyone who dares to lay a finger on her, he wouldn't hesitate to fight them. after all, she was the light in his life. but amidst all of this, he was unsure if he felt some sort of love for her in the back of his heart, or maybe it was disguised as gratefulness.
