The soft morning light filtered through Trevor's curtains as Jamie stirred awake. For a moment, he was disoriented, but then the memories of the night before came flooding back. He felt Trevor's arm draped over his waist, their bodies curved together.

"Morning," Trevor mumbled, pressing a soft kiss to Jamie's shoulder.

They lay there for a while, basking in the warmth of each other's presence, before finally deciding to get up and make breakfast.

In the kitchen, they moved around each other with a new, intimate familiarity. Trevor cracked eggs into a bowl while Jamie sliced fruit, their hips bumping as they shared the small space. They stole kisses between flipping pancakes and brewing coffee, laughing at the domesticity of it all.

As they sat down to eat, Trevor reached across the table to take Jamie's hand. "So," he said, a hint of nervousness in his voice, "how are you feeling about... everything?"

Jamie squeezed his hand, smiling. "Happy. Really, really happy. You?"

Trevor's face broke into a relieved grin. "Same. I don't think I've ever felt this good."

The next two days were a blissful bubble of couple time. They lounged in Trevor's room, watching movies, talking for hours, and exploring their new physical relationship. It felt both exciting and comfortable, like they'd crossed a threshold they'd always been meant to reach.
When Monday arrived, reality set in. They drove to school separately, agreeing to keep things low-key for now. As Jamie walked to his locker, he spotted Trevor and Riley talking near the water fountain. He paused, watching them. Their body language seemed relaxed, friendly even. Jamie felt a twinge of something—not quite jealousy, but unease.

Throughout the day, Jamie and Trevor maintained their usual friendship in public, but there were moments—a lingering touch as they passed books, a meaningful glance across the classroom—that felt charged with their shared secret.

At lunch, their friend group tentatively came back together. Alex and Mia joined them, followed by Raph and Tristan. There was initial awkwardness, but as the week progressed, things began to feel more normal.

After school on Friday, Trevor and Jamie drove home together. As Trevor navigated the familiar streets, Jamie cleared his throat. "So, I saw you talking to Riley earlier this week."

Trevor's hands tightened slightly on the steering wheel. "Oh, yeah. We were just catching up. No big deal."

Jamie nodded, not entirely convinced but not wanting to push. When they got to Trevor's house, Jamie suggested watching a movie, but he could sense Trevor's distraction. They ended up just hanging out, the easy intimacy of the past few days feeling slightly out of reach.
As the week went on, Jamie found himself increasingly aware of every interaction between Trevor and Riley. They seemed comfortable around each other, laughing at inside jokes, falling into easy conversation. Jamie tried to squash the growing insecurity in his chest, reminding himself of the passionate nights he and Trevor had shared.

The following weekend, Alex hosted a get-together for their friend group. As they all sat around the bonfire, Jamie couldn't help but notice how Trevor's eyes kept drifting to Riley. Halfway through the night, Trevor stood up. "Hey, Ri? Can we talk for a sec?"

Riley nodded, following Trevor away from the group. Jamie watched them go, a cold feeling settling in his stomach. He tried to focus on the conversation around him, but his mind was elsewhere.

When Trevor and Riley returned, both looked serious but calm. Trevor caught Jamie's eye and gave him a small smile, but it did little to ease the knot in Jamie's chest.

As the night wound down, Trevor offered to drive Jamie home. The car ride was quiet, tension thrumming beneath the surface. When they pulled up to Jamie's house, Trevor turned to him.
"Thanks for the ride," Jamie said, his hand on the door handle.

"Jay," Trevor started, then paused. "You know you're important to me, right?"

Jamie nodded, not trusting himself to speak. He got out of the car, watching as Trevor drove away, feeling more uncertain than ever about where they stood.

As he lay in bed that night, Jamie couldn't shake the feeling that something had shifted. The bubble of their private world had burst, and he wasn't sure what reality looked like on the other side.
