university was a stressful time for anyone, working diligently to get a degree and move their dreams forward. making friends was a necessity if they were to survive the years. yoongi made a small group of friends, growing super close over the year of attending classes. his closest friend and confidant was jimin, though his feelings were starting to develop into something more.
"you have classes today, right hyung?" jimin's voice shook yoongi from his thoughts, making him look up at the other standing in his doorway.
"yeah. only two, then i'm off for the rest of the week." his 25th birthday was coming up soon, plans to spend it with jimin and their group of friends in the works. they were to stay at namjoon's house, as it was the only one big enough to hold seven men at once.
"okay, cool! i've only got one so i'm going to head over to namjoon hyung's when i'm off. i think almost everyone is there." jimin beams at him, bouncing on his feet excitedly. "make sure you don't forget anything!"
yoongi only chuckled fondly, shaking his head a bit. "i won't, jimin. thank you." the younger gave him a quick wave before taking off for his next class, leaving him alone with his thoughts once more.
spending the weekend with his friends wasn't a big deal, but namjoon had sneakily paired him and jimin in a room, citing a birthday present for the birthday boy! he was the only one yoongi had told about his potential feelings, knowing he wouldn't spill secrets like the rest.
sighing, he shoved the oncoming wave of thoughts away and headed out, powering through the next few hours of classes.

namjoon's house was massive in yoongi's eyes, especially compared to their little dorm room on campus. he raised his fist to knock, only getting the first two in before the door was flung open.
"hyung! you're here!"
he barely had time to register the head of blond hair before the wind was knocked out of him, staggering backwards as jimin slammed into him with a hug. yoongi instinctively wrapped his arms around his friend, heart skipping a beat.
"hi jimin." he breathed out, burying his face into his hair. jimin giggled from the sensation, swatting lightly at his back.
"we were worried you weren't going to make it tonight." they pulled away, starting the trek through the house to the backyard. they made a pit stop at their room so he could drop his suitcase off before that, heading outside just as the sun was starting to set.
"it's my birthday party, of course i'd be on time." yoongi laughed softly, shielding his eyes against the glowing sun just on the horizon.
he scanned his eyes across the backyard, taking in the various activities. seokjin and hoseok were cooking on the grill, jungkook and taehyung were lounging together in the pool, namjoon overseeing the table they were going to eat at. tons of balloons and streamers and party supplies were set out, with a big happy birthday, yoongi! sign hung across the fence.
the second the door closed behind them, the boys all turned with big smiles. "happy birthday!" they all sang in chorus, gathering around the two on the back porch.
yoongi could feel his face heat up the slightest bit at the attention, unable to hide the gummy smile from his friends. "thanks, guys. everything looks wonderful."
"come on, let's go get in the pool!" jimin tugged him along, pulling his shirt off and casting it aside. jungkook and taehyung ran after him, all jumping into the pool together. namjoon nudged him towards the water, smiling knowingly at him.
