Everything was perfect.
The air was filled with the soft melody of celestial hymns and the occasional gentle rustling of angelic wings. Among this breathtaking scenery, angels roamed freely, their faces full of joy and peacefulness. Here, every soul found solace, fulfillment, and the purest form of joy imaginable.
A group of angels sat in the fresh grass, the scent of nature surrounding them with actual real life birds chirping.
A circle of souls danced and sang with one another, their movements synchronized with the rhythm of the music.
Others painted sceneries on canvases that glowed softly with bright colors, capturing the essence of peace and beauty of heaven that surrounded them.
Some ran around, playing with one another as their screams and laughter filled the area.
Others, sat at a table with one another, sloppily eating sandwiches with a pig in one of their laps and not a care in the world.
Anthony and Husk sat at a small outside table with a striped red and white umbrella standing above them. The table was scattered with evidence of their lunch, which was just half eaten sandwiches, a few stray napkins, and a small plate of sliced fruit. Fat Nuggets rested on Anthony's lap, occasionally munching on bits of sandwich Anthony held out to him every now and then.
Like right now, Anthony broke another piece of his bread absentmindedly, making sure to not forget the meat and the lettuce and the cheese and everything else that was added into his sandwich and moved his hand down to feed the piglet in his lap. All without breaking eye contact with the man in front of him.
"He's gonna get fat if you keep feeding him every time we go out." Husk said with a teasing smile, his gaze flickering between Anthony and the piglet with more adoration than anything, despite him literally insulting the pig. He loves Nuggets, fat or not. But lately he's noticed Nuggets is starting to get into that waddling stage, where his belly is too far out for his hooves to fully touch the ground. One of them has to say no to the pig eventually, and it for sure isn't going to be Anthony.
Anthony playfully gasped and gave Husk that look, where he clearly holds back a smile just to fake pout and gives him those "don't ever insult my baby" eyes. He's spent so much time with Anthony that he knows what he's saying just by a certain look, a certain glance, a certain movement, everything can be communicated through one motion.
It's certainly something that you aren't supposed to know, especially if you are two males.
Friends don't give you that look where you want them to scoot closer because you've grown so used to their body heat that it feels wrong without it.
Friends don't force themselves to leave the other persons house, despite wanting nothing more than to stay and hold the other close.
Friends don't stare at your lips as they talk, wondering that if you were a girl, how nice they'd feel on yours.
But unfortunately, that isn't the case.
In this perfect world with perfect beings, you must remain as just friends. And that's no problem, considering the feelings probably aren't mutual anyways. But Anthony couldn't help the way his heart ached every time Husk talked to someone new. He personally never saw what people see in women, so he just brushed it off as not wanting love at all. Although Husk never made it official with the women he talks to, which Anthony always wondered why. He goes into the talking stage, and that's it. By the next week, after the random women already caught feelings, he politely leaves.
What a gentleman.
Husk can't help the way his heart beats faster just at the mere thought of Anthony. He often talks to other women, one at a time of course, but only so he can fit in with the other angels among them. For those who never got to meet their partners in the living world, you will most definitely meet them here, yet no one makes his palms sweaty like Anthony does, the way he stutters on his words, the way he makes his mind race constantly.
