It was summer after high school
I was waiting in the swing
You were sitting adjacent to me
You were wearing a black cap
Hiding your face and when our eyes met
A melody kept playing in my head
You started small talk, late-night chats
Learned to love the humor you have
But then when your past returned
I was taken aback because,
It will never be the same
How you look at me
It will never be the same
How those smiles are sweet
I know this will be another hopeless story
It will never be the same
How you glance at me
And even all the trees
Stop dancing with the wind
I've read the lines I know we couldn't be
Then you played my favourite song
Taught me how to play it perfectly
You bring out the best in me
Deep gazes like the depths of the sea
One day, I broke in tears
You found me where I was hiding
Crying against your chest
Hearing every heartbeat
Only love can mend a broken heart
But how can I love?
When I am not your true happiness
But your painful past
It will never be the same
How it used to be
It will never be the same
The first time you looked at me
In the end, it's still a hopeless story
You will never be the same
How you glance at me
In pretenses and secrecy
I know you read the lines
For certain you and me
Isn't forbidden love they used to say
From the start, you can't be touched
"Because you are someone that I couldn't have."
