The notification stared back at me as my head clouded with confusion and excitement. My heart fluttered, which I can confirm is a real feeling, as I swiped and unlocked my phone.

Garrett and I have never snapchatted out of the blue, we've never snapchatted at all really. The first time when we added each other is an exception. It was in class and we were all recording our teacher who was singing Christmas songs, in the middle of May, while he shook his butt at the class while writing on the board. We were all laughing and casually added each other to look at everyone's Snapchat stories.

I would like to consider Garrett Nolan as a friend of mine, but in reality we've only had conversations that would add up to 3 hours in the several years we've known each other.  He's like any other teenage boy but has an added amount of shyness. He's extremely athletic, in a Godly way, and really smart in a, please take my test for me, way. While I, hate and need time to understand the subject of math, he eases through it although he doesn't do his homework.

We had a conversation once about how our Trigonometry teacher didn't like him because he hasn't made up a test and he's had two weeks to do so. His demeanor helps him soften teachers up, in my opinion. Since middle school all the girls had a crush on him, he was that 'golden boy' but the personality didn't fit the stereotype. So once they saw that he wasn't the popular outgoing guy like in the movies they moved on.

"Are you gonna open it or not?" Sophia pulls me out of my thoughts, kicking my butt with the top of her foot.

"It's a chat." I swipe right as the empty conversation log pops up,

Today

After texting a little more about the details and what I should wear, to which he offered a seaweed dress. Classy boy. I told him i gotta run, which i did, all the way to my grandma's bedroom.

Our conversation took an hour long, to which I sat at the kitchen counter sweating, crying, dying, and squealing. So Sophia gave up on me, each time she asked me what he was saying I would stick my hand on her face and push her away. I couldn't handle any other conversations.

Turning on the lights in her room, I jumped on my grandma's bed,

"GRANDMA! WAKE UP WAKE UP!"

Considering it was 1 a.m I shouldn't have waken up my grandma screaming. But i couldn't contain myself.

With a baseball bat in hand and her hair in curlers, my grandma looked as if she almost relived the war.

"Please tell me there's a fire or some sort of meteor heading towards us." she begged in a weak voice

"MY FUTURE HUSBAND JUST INVITED ME TO A WEDDING! Not our wedding although that will happen but, A WEDDING!

"Which future husband honey, you've had so many. That Clifford one, the big red dog was it? He resembled that dog with his hair all red."

Lying back on the bed like a starfish, I begin to squeal again. I can't help it, it's how my body emits excitement. As I let out my last squeal, Sophia walks in waving her hands above her head.

"Did he propose?" she asks with her eyes closed but a smile on her face as she climbed onto the bed.

"Not yet, but he did invite me to a wedding in case you didn't hear."

"Wow grandma, are you prepared to give away your first grandchild off to be wed?" Sophia asks.

"I don't have a clue what's going on, I heard husband and a wedding during her yodeling. I don't have my hearing aid in."
