The sweet, almost intoxicating scent of lychees had recently found a place in my list of favourite things. But nothing could compare to the softness I felt when, for a fleeting moment, my face pressed between Jiya's bobbies, traits that made my ears turn red despite not being one to shy away easily. It sent a shiver down my spine. Her babyish smell had a calming effect, but it also ignited a certain desire within me. I knew I had to control myself, though. There were topics she needed to be aware of before anything could progress between us.

I hoped Jiya would make up her mind to study further. She needed to realize that there were more opportunities and a whole different world outside this village. Seeing her cry yesterday left me feeling gloomy. Her sobbing shifted my entire focus onto her. I had always seen her as angry and confused. Her half-truths gave me a glimpse into the reasons behind her tears, which didn't sit well with me.

I had a gut feeling about Rajvardhan, sensing there was much more to him than what he showed. I needed to make backup plans in case he tried to hurt me, as he had openly threatened me. Such threats were common in the business world, but this felt different.

It's been a month since I arrived in this village. A part of me longed to run back to my mother's arms, but another part wanted to spend more time with Jiya, who had become the centre of my attraction. I used to exercise in my room, but now, catching her peeking through the window gap boosted my ego. To tease her, I often lowered my trousers to show off the V shape I had built in the gym, flexing my body deliberately. Although I wanted to do more, I let her enjoy the preview, hoping to show her the whole movie one day.

Fortunately, no one from the Chauhan family had been bothering me, making my days better. Work was going smoothly, both the village project and my private office work. If we could complete the school construction within five months, there would be a grand opening, as Shrikesh Chauhan had declared. The construction had gone well, with strong pillars, and we took precautions to ensure the work satisfied everyone.

I knew Jiya would have countless doubts about the books, so I had already thought of a solution: a phone. It was up to her to take it or not.

As the evening settled in, I headed to our new meeting spot, a place just for us, to spend 15 minutes together. When my watch struck 5 AM, I knew she would come running, shouting, and waving her books with confusion. I counted down, 1, 2...

But when I turned around, I saw no one except birds chirping loudly. My subconscious mocked me, calling me a fool. Just as I rubbed my forehead in frustration, I heard Jiya shouting my name, running towards me. Her bouncing bobbies made me slap myself internally for my thoughts. She had ruined my patience once again. I wished, even by mistake, my face would press against her chest, but I knew it wouldn't happen soon.

Couldn't she ever be on time when I was counting down?

"Easy, take a breath," I said, watching Jiya struggle to catch her breath. She was wrapped in sweat, her dupatta barely hanging onto her left shoulder, and her chest was glistening with effort. I turned away, giving her a moment to adjust. Not that it helped much......her state of undress was permanently etched in my mind.
