Toadstep shifted his paws on the ground nervously. He looked around himself, jumping at every sound, his ears twitching. When is she going to be here? Toadstep thought impatiently. He sighed.
There was this attractive she-cat he'd been seeing ever since he was an apprentice. Lightpaw- or, Lightstep, now. He felt hot under his pelt waiting for her.
But here's the twist: she was from SkyClan. And Toadstep was from ShadowClan! It was forbidden!
I don't care. That rule sucks.
"Toadpaw!" A familiar voice echoed off from the trees. Toadstep looked up, all thoughts he was having before disappearing. The world seemed to almost light up. Everything was brighter, happier now. She's here. Toadstep grinned.
He got up and padded over to her, Lightstep pulling in for a nuzzle. They embraced each other passionately. Even though they hadn't seen each other for a day, every time they part it feels like an eternity.
"Toadstep now, right?" She asked.
"Yes. We're both 'steps now, Lightpaw!" Toadstep chuckled, still calling Lightstep by her old name. It was like a nickname now. Toadstep would never get used to using her new name, anyways. He intertwined his tail with hers, congratulating Lightstep's new warrior status. She laughed with him.
"Who would've thought we would both get basically the same name?"
"StarClan knows," Toadstep cocked his head to the side. "But it's kinda funny, right?"
Lightstep had the biggest smile on her face. "Sure is,"
It was so beautiful outside. Sunny to perfection. The light spread through the tall trees, dappling their pelts with light dots. It was a few 'till the beginning of nightfall, and cats were probably eating their last freshkill of the day back at camp. Little did they know, Toadstep was over here, meeting with his favorite cat in the whole world.
And they'll never know. I can keep secrets.
"I can't believe it. We're warriors now, Toadstep. This is it. We can only reach higher from here." Lightstep pondered.
Toadstep barked a laugh. "You sure are right, Lightpaw," He looked off into the forest. Deputy, here I come.
"Let's go to the hot springs or something. Come on!" Lightstep asked cheerfully, snapping Toadstep out of his deputy-obsessed thoughts.
"Only if you'll tell me about Snakestar's weekly problem, hah!" He joked.
Lightstep laughed along with him and signaled the way, the two warriors running off the hot springs by each other's sides. Toadstep hoped this night would never end.

A crowd of cats stared at them, their eyes fixated on their movements. "Lightstep. Do you swear to be loyal to ShadowClan for the rest of your life, until you go to StarClan?"
There was a pause. Everybody held their breaths, awaiting Lightsteps answer. The answer that would change the course of her life- for better, or for worse.
"Yes." She spoke.
"I do."
Toadstep grinned. This was it, the answer he was waiting for.
No more worrying. No more feeling afraid. Nothing can hold me back anymore. His tail swished. Lightstep looked accomplished.
I'll become ShadowClan leader. I'll make Lightstep my deputy... and then I'll finally be in control.
