Lucifer awoke with a gasp, his body feeling unnaturally heavy as he slowly sat up.

His wings were gone, each feather plucked out from the speed of his descent. He looked around once his sight adjusted to his surroundings. The first being he saw was Amaris.

Like him, her wings were gone, the bloody openings on the parts of her back where they used to be only reminding Lucifer of the true severity of what just happened.

He had been casted out of the heavenly realms.

He didn't yet know that, aside from him and Amaris, there was an army of angels that followed him, them also being cast out of the heavenly realms and scattered across the earth.

He looked up at the clouds that were once his home. Sadness filled him, but rage had quickly overtaken at the harsh reality his creator had sentenced him to.

A sentiment that should've been accepted as a compliment resulted in an act of premature judgement in Lucifer's eyes. He desired to be like his master. But The Almighty saw it as rebellion – a sin of pride and defiance against his authority.

"In the day I created you, you were blameless. But wickedness has found you. Your widespread trade filled you with violence, and it caused you to sin. As a consequence, I shall drive you in disgrace from my mount. I expel you, guardian cherub, from among the fiery stones. Your heart grows too proud on account of your beauty. You corrupted your wisdom because of your splendor. You shall be thrown to the earth, where I've made a spectacle of you before kings. By your many sins and dishonest trade, you've desecrated your sanctuaries. I made a fire come out from you, and it will consume you. By my power, it will reduce you to ashes on the ground in the sight of all who were watching."

His master's words were piercing as his eternal sentence was given. He only wanted to be as great as the one who created him. But in such flattery, he sealed his own damnation.

"Lucifer..." Amaris uttered, laying a gentle hand to his shoulder.

Her cheeks were stained with tears, their paths outlined in dirt from the impact her body made to the ground. She could still feel the sensation of her wings detaching from her flesh upon her descend, as could Lucifer, but his tears were of distraught.

"I was once the morning star..." he uttered hauntingly, staring up at the heavens as the clouds began to darken, "...I walked on The Almighty's holy mountain...I was anointed to serve him as a member of the guardian cherubim...he trusted me that much...and yet, he took my humbleness as a sign of threat..."

Amaris saw the former cherubim's body tremble with so much emotion. She's never seen her brother quite like this before.

She knelt down before her knees touched the ground, facing Lucifer before gently cupping his face. They locked eyes, relaying all the vulnerability they were feeling in this moment.

They were no longer under their creator's protection. It was a feeling they never thought they'd experience.

"Wherever you go..." she said, "...I'll follow. Being eternally separated from our heavenly brothers doesn't make you any less of mine..."
