Everything starts from an end. Some ends are worse than others. This was one of the nasty ones.

I was hurtling through the sky. All I felt was pain, more emotionally than physically though I definitely felt it physically.

Zoey...

What had I DONE!??!! She was probably dead by now!

Oh Zoey... What have I done?

I remember her telling me to go. She said she could handle the bomb, she said it would be safe! I didn't believe her but she wouldn't take no for an answer.

"Rythian, I'l be fine! Just go, you'l see me in about an hour anyway."

I didn't believe her. I stayed, sent Teep ahead with the animals. I waited outside in the bushes to make sure nothing went wrong. Then I heard the ticking. And the scream. I remember running toward the castle shouting for her to get out. Then it exploded. I don't know how I survived even THAT! I'm still hurtling through the air. I hope I die. Life without her is no life at all. And there is no way she could have survived at the heart of the explosion. All I have to do now is wait....

*sigh*  This is never going to work. I put down the laser and my trinkets on a table in my lab and started heading up toward my bedroom. I looked in the mirror. Wow, Xephos was right, maybe I do need a haircut.. My messy blonde hair had almost reached my shoulders. Then again, long hair is cool right? I sighed again thinking of my friends. I really need to go over to the factory more often, I hadn't had any human contact in a week. Or was it a month? I never keep track of the time. My sleeping and eating habits have become more and more disarrayed. I glanced at the clock, wait it's MIDNIGHT?? I thought it was only 5:00 PM! I really do need to put a clock in the lab, this is getting ridiculous. Then again it's not like I have anything I'm planning. *sigh* I looked down at my used-to-be-white lab coat. Wow I really need to wash more often..

I was taking of my goggles to get into bed when I heard it. A low rumble from just outside my castle. What could that be? I thought looking out the window. The seemed to be a smoking crater just outside the forest. Sleep can wait. I shoved my goggles back onto my head and headed outside, grabbing my jetpack by the door. I put it on and headed toward the crater. Maybe some more meteorite? That could be useful. I stopped outside the crater and looked down. It was fairly deep with smoke billowing out like clouds. I could make out something in the center. I made my way down carefully and stopped. Wait was that a person??!!  They seemed to be fairly tall with scorch marks all over them. The smoke was thick and they were so charred that I didn't recognize them immediately. I stooped down and brushed a bit of soot from their face. Then I took a step back, realizing who it was. Rythian??!  Now I'm confused. Why would Rythian fall from the sky? Should I help him? He was in pretty bad shape and I don't know how long he would survive like this. But doesn't he hate me? I never understood why he did. I had seen him at Ridge's meetings and he always glared at me like I'd done something to offend him. I'd only talked to him once and that was when we were figuring out were everyone was going to live at the start. Maybe if I help him he will stop hating me. Ya that's a good idea! I knew how to deal with burns and such from my countless "accidents" with my machines, so I picked him up carefully to take him back to my castle. He was surprisingly light for such a tall man and I could feel his ribs through his shirt. Thats odd... I decided to brush it off and flew back to my castle carrying Rythian bridal style. I took him up to my bedroom since it was the only room with a bed and laid him down gently. To be honest, he's kinda cute.. No Lalna not now! I scolded myself and ran over to the bathroom for the first aid, getting some cream and bandages out. I took of his coat and shirt and rolled up his pants, then gently began applying the cream to the burns. I remembered his face and took of the scarf that was covering his mouth. I gasped. So thats why he wears it... All up his neck to his lips were thick purple scars. I quickly recovered from the shock and started applying the cream to the burns on his forehead since the scarf seemed to have somehow protected the lower half of his face. Once the cream had settled I started bandaging up the worst scrapes. When I was done most of his torso and right leg were covered in bandages along with his forehead and hands that I had found also had the purple scars. Now that I had taken care of his injuries I had time to fully take in what he looked like. He had rather dark skin, dark brown spiky hair with an odd streak of blonde at the front. He was very skinny, though definitely had some muscle definition. He had very prominent cheek bones and a long nose. He seemed to like dark colors since his clothes were an array of blacks, greys, and purples. I decided to get myself cleaned up in case he woke up so I went to take a shower. Little did I know what would happen in the morning
