Dawning sun rays seeped through tinted windows, illuminating the room with its golden glow as its warmth permeated in the air. The morning birds chirped outside the windows, their small beaks tapping against the glass panes as they tinkered with the nest they'd crafted right by the window's edge, made of nothing but twigs and straw. Fluttering wings knocked on the windows, the little bird whistling a tune as it settled down on its little home, puffing its feathers in search for warmth and comfort. The noises that came from the window still caused the star to slowly stir awake, groaning at the amber lights that bathed her resting figure in its splendor. She blinked a few times to adjust her sight before pushing the bedsheets off to the side, her body still struggling to escape from its drowsy state.
The papers... I must organize them before the arrangement this afternoon.
Estheria exhaled deeply through her nostrils, taking a pause to stare at the cold tiles beneath her bare feet. She shivered at the thought of placing her feet flat on the ground, so she opted for a pair of slippers and a nice coat. As she wrapped the garment tight around her figure, the woman casted a glance towards the window, smiling faintly upon noticing the little bird nesting on her window still. A red cardinal to be precise, chirping with joy as it relished the warmth provided by its feathers and well-made nest. A benevolent creature; a being capable of no harm.
"Do you want a little treat?" She muttered, chuckling as the bird chirped in reply.
The star approached the door with a weary yawn, twisting the knob open before letting herself out of her room. Within the small space of her apartment, she was quick to arrive at her kitchen, her hands reaching for the cabinets to grab something for the crimson cardinal to eat. Slender fingers wandered aimlessly through the cupboards, twitching slightly as she tried to find what she was looking for. Once she was able to grab the bread, she pulled it out of the cabinets and placed it on the kitchen counter. Grabbing a cutting knife from the drawers, she cut a small chunk of bread before darting back into her chambers. She smiled as she realized the bird was still chirping outside by her window, and with no time to spare, the young woman opened the locks.
Estheria hushed the creature as she slowly inched closer with a slice of bread in her fingers, her gaze solely fixed on the bird while she prayed to the Archons that it wouldn't fly away from her reach. The cardinal tilted its head to the side, curious, beady eyes observing her approach as it fluttered its wings in alert.
"I have something for you. Stay still," she said, carefully extending her arms until the piece of bread above her fingers stood mere centimeters away from the bird's beak. Coal, beady eyes inspected her figure before glancing back at the chunk of food, suspicious of her intentions. A few seconds passed, yet, the creature continued to stare at the bread, wings twitching as it began to hop on the window still. As fast as it could, the cardinal swooped down with its open beak and stole the piece of bread, retreating further back into a corner of the window still with the food pinched between its mouth. It swallowed the bread with ease, fluttered its wings as if to say thank you before flying away into the air, chirping with content.
The young star chuckled at the interaction, heart swelling with glee as she marveled at the simplistic beauty that was Sneznahya's nature. Despite what most people might think, the land of Cryo was more than a barren land of ice and snow; all sorts of creatures roamed the lands, a much needed touch of life and color to the Cryo Archon's icy, northern nation. A land where life was thought to be stagnant and scarce, a foolish misconception that caused great disturbance to the Snezhnayans. After all, there's nothing more aggravating than to hear someone spew nonsense about one's homeland, portraying it as a horrible place without even having been able to pay a visit or at least studied its history. Working as a singer would guarantee such interactions with ignorant people, often making the star furious by the insensitive comments and remarks they would toss at her. Of course, never caring whether she'd got offended or whether she was a native to the nation.
