All American

A lot of my poetry was... questionable to say the least. Some of it clearly had emotion, but it was.... definitely not the best. I always wanted to repeat lines or stick to a certain scheme. So, that's how I turned to music I guess. Kageyama and Yachi were nice as ever, or as nice as one can be through text. We tried a schedule of weekly video chats but they soon fell through, due to my duties shadowing my father. To be truthful, I missed home.
Home was not here, America is bland, basic, and lame. Or it was, until I met them.
Taylor and Cam were the first two I met. A pair of close knit siblings. Cam was the oldest of us three, being sixteen. I fell shortly behind him with a June birthday, and Taylor was just a bit younger, with an August birthday. They were my first friends at my American school.
I half expected Dad to home school us, at least me. He prioritized me looking over the company, reassuring a smooth flow and transition when I was set to take over. I was glad he didn't.. I love him but I really needed a social life.
"Shoyoooo? Sho? Are you even listening to me right now?" Taylor questioned as we ate our lunch.
"Hm? Yeah, I've been listening this whole time Tay," I lied. I had not been listening, I had been thinking about what Tobio and Hitoka are doing right now.
"Mm, okay... What did I just say then?" Taylor gave me a look, she knew I was lying and she was going to catch me in it.
"Uhm.. you said.. erm.. Jenna really needs to work on her base skills because she dropped someone last practice and it was embarrassing for the whole team..?" I sputtered, trying to remember the last thing I had heard from the conversation.
"I said we should go skating tonight," Taylor sighed, Cam let out a small laugh.
"Tay, I would seriously love to, but I suck at skating," I replied. After about two weeks of going, and getting constantly injured, I finally managed to land my first trick. It was cool and all, but I think I need a break.
"We can always get back alley tats," Cam joked at the other side of the table.
"Bro lower your voice on that shit, Mrs. Halder will have all our asses if she hears you," Tay muttered before breaking into an obscenely loud laugh.
"Taylor shut up, people are starting to stare!" I slapped my hand over her mouth but that seemed to make her laugh more.
"No seriously, we're being judged so hard right now, dude," Cam chimed in once again. Once Taylor calmed down, our chatter commensed.
"So back alley tattoos?" I questioned.
"Mhm," Cam hummed between bites.
"Why not?"
"Wait seriosuly?" Taylor looked at me like I had two heads.
"Well, maybe not alleys.. Those are kind of unhygienic... But if your mom would sign a consent form I know my dad would," I responded. I kinda liked this idea.
"Mom would sign anything, really. She loves when we express ourselves. But would your dad really give in that easy?" Tay answered once again. I looked back at her, this time it was my turn to look at her dumbfounded.
"You.. you have seen me right? I only had my septum peirced when I left Japan," I responded. Since the move, I had gotten snake bites, got my ears peirced multiple times, gotten both sides of my nose done, and gotten an eyebrow peirced. School demanded all of my piercings, besides my three nose piercings, had clear retainers at most put in. Anything else was deemed distracting.
"Then it's a plan! Let's do this shit," Taylor smiled at me.
"Goddamn, keep your voice down!" Cam responded.
