summary: naira and kartik plan to run away at a wedding.

****

i was standing like a fool with nowhere to go. why? because its the wedding of my brother, ladies and gentlemen. of course whole attention was on him. as always.

rolling my eyes at the relatives who kept gushing over my brother, i came out. while roaming i saw a girl eating some chaat papdi alone.

she looked magnificent in the grey lehnga she wore. her long, heavy, silky black hairs cascaded over her shoulders and were till her hips.

smirking i went towards her. "can i help you, princess?" i said.

she looked at me, her mouth filled with the chaat papdi. chewing and gulping it quickly, she patted the back of the kid who was sitting on the chair.

"aashu, go to your mom." she shooed him away.

"i'm glad you asked, jaan." she smirked.

my heart did a little summersault when she called me 'jaan'.

"you are..." she started.

".. kartik. groom's younger brother and you?"

"naira bride's cousin."

"cool. beautiful name for a beautiful face." i say.

"sexy voice for a sexy face." she said making me gasp.

"haw! you're such a flirt." she giggled.

"waise, tumhe apne bhai ke saath nahi hona chahiye? i mean vo real bhai na tumhara." naira said making me roll my eyes.

"real bhai hokar bhi cousins se bura behave karta hai vo." and that's how i ended up telling my whole life story while eating, to a person i just met a few moments back.

i don't know but i seemed to trust her a lot already. "damn, that's... bad." she said and ate her ice cream.

"yeah... but you're also the sister of the bride. why aren't you there?" i frowned as i realised.

"ab kya hi kahe... tumhare wala haal hi hamara hai. tumse milne se pehle just mumma se sun kar aayi thi.." she huffed.

"kya bola unhone?" i couldn't help but ask.

"she said - 'teri jaisi aulaad ko marr jaana chahiye'. i mean mumma, that's what i want!" she laughed.

"she said you should die and you're laughing?!" i said in disbelief.

"zindagi mei khush hone ke liye kuch hona bhi chahiye. mere parents ho kar bhi nahi thhe. hamesha se unhone meri behn aur mere bhai ko hi support kiya hai. middle child hu na." she said with fake sadness.

"damn.. bohot kuch hai jaan khush rehne ke liye.." i held her hands.

"tum mere saath bhagoge?" she asked out of nowhere making me cough.

"w-what?" i drank some water.

"dekh, i have been planning this since i was 21. right now i am 24 and i have a well-paid job as well. i will ask my boss to transfer me there and everything will be sorted. where do you work by the way?" she told her plan and then asked me..

"i actually work in an it company. work from home." i shrugged.

"awesome! that means you don't have to worry about your job. will you run with me, kartik?" her voice turned serious.
