Accepting who you are can be hard, especially if who you are isn't widely accepted by others. Sunoo knew who he was for a long time and keeping a secret like that can be extremely exhausting.
He was afraid of what would happen if he told anyone, afraid his career would end along with the relationship with his members. So he kept it a secret regardless of how terrible it made him feel.
Things however when Sunoos parents came to visit the dorms.
"sunoo-ah! your parents are here!" he heard heeseung call from the front of the house.
Sunoo finished doing his hair and rushed to greet them at the door.
"sunoo! My sweet boy it's so good to see you!" his mother gushed as she squeezed his soft cheeks in her hands.
"it's good to see you too!" sunoo squealed as his parents took him into their arms.
"come on in, let me take your bags." He led them inside as the rest of the boys greeted them respectfully.
The staff rented out a barbeque restaurant so they could all have a nice private meal together. Sunoo was overjoyed to get to spend an entire day with his parents smiling appreciatively as his mother fed him the beef she cooked and encouraged him to eat well.
"ah I'm just so happy to see you son, all of you boys actually! It's been far too long." His mother exclaimed with a bright smile.
"aww thank you Mrs. Kim, that's very kind of you, we're happy to see you as well." Heeseung replied as he re-filled her and her husband's bowls of rice.
"you know, people at home still rave about you. The neighbors call you superstar sunoo!" his father chuckled as he sipped his beer.
"no way! We are absolutely gonna call you that now hyung!" ni-ki said as he clapped sunoo on the shoulder.
Sunoo's cheeks went bright red as he laughed. Knowing his family and old community supported his career was heartwarming and made him smile from ear to ear.
"no absolutely not." Sunoo joked as he messed up ni-ki's hair in retaliation.
"ah but anyways sunoo-ah, jake tells me they lifted the dating ban at your company?"
Sunoo nodded his head as he took another bite of his meal.
"well isn't that wonderful! Now you boys can find some nice girls to settle down with." His mother said sweetly.
The boys laughed lightheartedly not sure how serious she was being.
"I'm serious! Sunoo-ah, remember mi soo-yun?"
Sunoo sighed mentally and nodded his head.
"yeah, we went to school together."
"yes! Well she just graduated college and is looking to settle down, you two used to be so close and we thought it would be nice if you got together."
Sunoo cringed as the boys began oohing and ahhing at the words.
"ooooh sunoo's got a girlfriend!" jungwon teased making the others laugh.
Sunoo however was not very amused.
"y'know, I'm not really interested in dating right now mom." He said politely hoping they could move on from the topic.
