A whole new world - an MLB FF

Mary Sat in silence at the table. She could not speak. She couldn't even if she wanted to. She could tell her family was arguing. It was very heated, if the arm gestures were any indication. She glanced back down at the Bible in front of her. The scripture in Philippians would always comfort her. "I can do all things through Christ."

A hand slammed down in front of her. She looked up into the angry eyes of her father.

His mouth moved. "Get ready," he snarled. She clearly understood the A whole new world - an MLB FF

She left the table to change into her Sunday dress. The head wife came into the room behind her, startling her. She grabbed Mary's other two dresses and her BIble and stuffed them in a tiny bag. All her worldly possessions. The head wife tossed the bag at her feet. Mary's mother was clearly crying. Being a third wife to her father, Mary's mother had no say.

"I love you," Mary's mother signed to her. "I will miss you."

"Where am I going?" Mary signed

"Your father has arranged for you to become the fifth wife to Pastor Bennett."

Mary's mouth fell open. Fifth wife? She knew her curse by god would not grant her the honor of ever being a Head wife, but a fifth? She was going to be little more than a brood mare and a slave. Even if she had a son, that honor would be taken away from her and given to the Head wife. Mary broke down into tears.

Mary was barely 15. Pastor Bennett was approaching 60. He had 17 daughters already, most older than she was. She regretted whatever sin she committed prior to birth that caused god to curse her. Through her tears, her mother got her attention. She signed, "I'm going to get you out of here."

It was night when Mary's mother woke her up. She took her to the edges of the compound where they lived. There was a hole cut in the fence.

"This is Charlotte. She is going to take care of you from now on," her mother signed, "I love you."

Mary's mother looked at Charlotte, "Don't tell me anything. The less I know the better. I won't withstand the torture."

Charlotte nodded her understanding. She looked at Mary, "Come with me, you're safe now." Mary left with the woman, leaving her Mother in tears.

Luka got home from the pool party and collapsed on his bed. He was heartbroken. He loved Marinette, but he knew her heart was with Adrien. Marinette's song was finally complete, but it did not include him.

Ankara came into his room., "Aye boy."

"Hey mom," he sighed.

"Got some bad news."

He sat up. She was holding a letter in her hand. She handed it to him.

Repeat the school year.

What? So apparently fleeing Paris to protect yourself, Ladybug and Cat Noir warranted repeating the school year. He fell back on his bed again. This day could not get any worse.
