Chapter One - Banished

The sky was a brilliant blue, the golden sun cast its rays into the sky, onto the clouds, staining the world with a brilliant golden color. The sky was clear and beautiful up here, far above any dangers below.
The songs of birds never reached this high, only leaving the song of wind to greet the residents of the sky. It was beautiful up here, it was paradise.
Those who lived up here were blessed, blessed with the gift of flight, the gift of song, and the gift of life. They had the world at their paw tips, yet never interfered. Well...aside from one.

"I'm telling you it's far too dangerous to get involved! Humans are greedy, destructive creatures who bring no good! You're a fool to try helping or protecting them!"
The harsh voice rang out through the halls, causing many heads to turn towards the direction it came from.
"So it's dangerous to show care and compassion now?!"
Another voice protested, sounding furious.

In the middle of a hall, two of the residents were in an argument. A wise elder, whose fur and feathers were an impressive shade of emerald green. The other was far younger, with fur colored with lilacs and lavender purples.
These two were known for arguing.
"You're an arrogant selfish fool, Amethyst! You only want to help so you get praised." The elder snapped at her.
"I'm arrogant?! Excuse me?! You're a blind old fool! You don't give a fuck about the people down there suffering!" Amethyst yelled back, her wings flaring out.
"You are disrespecting your elder! And you know what? If you want to help those miserable creatures, so be it! Go down there and run among them, and don't come crawling back, I hereby banish you from ever returning!" The elders words rang through the halls, and the watching crowd started whispering among themselves while Amethyst stared at the elder in shock.
"A banishment? There hasn't been a banishment since.."
"Is she really going to be gone? For good?"
"Such a shame..I thought she had potential.."

The whispers seemed to follow Amethyst as she left the scene, slowly walking, escorted, towards an exit of the sprawling complex.
Eyes watched as they passed, curious gazes and mutters followed no matter what, until she reached the exit. Now she was left staring now ahead or up at the beautiful sky, but down. Down at the thick gray clouds below, a gloomy sight that only made her dread her fate. Sure she's been down there before, but it was only brief.
"Well? Get going. Shoo! Go! We don't want you anymore!" The elder escorting her gave her a mocking look, then pushed her off the edge. Leaving her to plummet down.
Amethyst fell rapidly, but rightened herself and slightly spread her wings, just enough to slow her descent. She passed through the thick covering of clouds, now being in a dreadful gloomy place, gray and dull.
"Doesn't matter how it looks...this is my home now."
Amethyst landed on a tall building, flicking her tails and looking out over the city before her.

I might be banished, but I swear I'll protect this city- my new home- whatever it takes.
