A/N: despite it taking a long time, it's actually a little short...but um short stories am I right!! I have school stuff and I don't want to keep the request hanging so yeah- will edit in the future.

For some stupid reason, Niko convinced AJ to watch this old Japanese movie Niko found on a pirated website. It's absurd and stupid really, for many reasons. First, because AJ never liked horror movies to begin with and everyone knew this, even his younger cousin that could barely talk knew about it.

Horror movies suck.

Seriously, ghosts and all that? Come on, other things scare him more. Like death, or ageing, or some old man wise shit. Ghosts and possessed ladies are just created and intended to scare for no reason, what's there to learn from it? Oh, that when you get possessed your voice suddenly have autotune and you suddenly, all of a sudden, learn a whole new language?

It's useless, really. AJ never found it interesting.

But Niko was practically begging to watch with him for some reason, and AJ would understand if he wanted to do a video about it like some truth or dare or whatever creative ideas that goes on in the man's head. But no, Niko just wanted to watch with AJ, the man said he missed having alone time with him and wants to watch a movie with him.

The first thing AJ thought was why should it be horror of all things?

But Niko asked him late at night and AJ was too tired to bother arguing. So like an idiot that he is, he agreed.

Now AJ and Niko's sitting one foot apart on a couch, with lights closed and the room dark, only the light from the TV became their main source for vision, and small drops of rain could be heard outside. Talk about dramatic setting.

10 minutes in the movie, it was okay. Just the classic and ever so cliché, where a new family moved to a new town and found a very cheap but very big and beautiful house.

Then night time appeared, and the rain outside started to actually sound and feel like rain from inside the movie. That small trembles on your skin, goosebumps, and it didn't help that Britain was probably cursed by a witch from a country they colonised long ago, and they were stuck with terrible weather because one second they were warm and cozy and then they're freezing to death.

Niko could see from a glance that AJ was clearly trembling. Not that he was looking at AJ this whole time. But he was so far away and Niko didn't know why. The whole point of this movie was so that they could spend some time together and get closer because despite them being the only two members of Beta Squad that wanted and decided to live together. Somehow, they didn't even have that much time spent together. Other than the depressing football matches which was never really a fun moment. Niko was always out and travelling doing some crazy challenge or skit like running for Mayor or the President, and AJ was busy playing games in his room.

They didn't really have the time.

But Beta Squad are having a break, and Niko decided it's the perfect time for the two of them to do something together.

The first thing that came to mind? Movie. Second thing? Horror.

Niko's a man of first instinct, so Niko also acted on instinct when he scooted closer to AJ, their thighs touching. Niko looked at AJ when he did that without realizing, but the shorter man kept looking at the screen and his eyes were practically glued to the screen. As much as AJ tried to convince to everyone that he hated horror movies so much, he looked very into it from Niko's point of view. Niko just smiled a little, loving every single thing about AJ.

Niko started to pay his attention back to the screen, because why would he keep paying attention to the man beside him? He had done that for all of his life since meeting the man, it's definitely time for Niko to start paying attention to the actual, real, world, and look at something else other than AJ.

So that's what the taller man did, or try to anyways.

He was just as focused on the movie as AJ was. Maybe not as much as AJ though because the older man didn't even realise when he literally jumped when the woman on the screen got pulled into the darkness. What intrigued Niko even more was that he jumped into Niko's arms unconsciously. Niko himself was shocked by the sudden jumpscare, his long arms tried to hold AJ's smaller body as if trying to protect him from whatever was going on in the screen. Which was actually pretty stupid because what's the screen going to do to them? Niko couldn't help it though. It had always been Niko's second nature, or well, first- to protect AJ. As if the man wasn't a grown man and older than him. Niko can't help it, that's just how he is and AJ is and always will be someone worth protecting.

Yes, even from a ghost on screen.

When Niko tried to get AJ closer to him, it turns out he didn't have to do it because AJ was closer to him than Niko wanted them to be. Niko's arm was already stretched long and behind the couch, his other hand was busy eating chips. When AJ jumped and got closer to him, Niko's arm had a mind on its own and slightly wrapped it around AJ's. Niko would feel way more comfortable knowing AJ was in a close distance with him, because the rain and thunder outside did not help their heart that was beating way too fast because of the movie. Or maybe their hearts were beating so fast for some other reasons but they wouldn't know, right?

Another jumpscare.

And this time Niko got way more than what he bargained for because AJ jumped, "Holy fucking hell-" the smaller man cursed and closed his eyes as well as quite literally curling himself up on Niko's t-shirt. AJ was gripping it very tightly and he covered his face with Niko's shirt that the taller man would definitely frame or never wash.

All of AJ's warmth were shared with Niko, and AJ might as well sit on his lap at that point because both his legs were vertically covering Niko's longer legs whose feet was touching the floor.

AJ was too scared shitless to care about what he was doing to Niko. Niko's a chill and relaxed guy, he wouldn't mind. Plus, it's not always that AJ gets to watch a heart-attack threatening movie with someone he completely trusts to hold and touch him. AJ rarely finds anyone that are worthy of his trust, and when he does then they get a sort of pass or ticket to touch him because AJ trusts them enough but even sometimes he felt uncomfortable but with Niko, there's no sense of discomfort at all.

Niko was all cozy and warm and kind, his presence itself was comforting.

So, don't blame AJ for having Niko as a shield against the evil from the movie. Because seriously, the creature on the screen is probably the most hideous creature ever.

Niko's not paying attention to the movie anymore, whatever screams and jumpscares. All Niko knew was that every scream would make AJ flinch, and every jumpscare makes AJ grip Niko's shirt a little tighter. Niko's hand moved to grip AJ's shoulder, a little bit too bold for Niko's liking but AJ is literally curled up in his arms. Boldness is already in the picture.

Every single flinches AJ makes, and every single one of them Niko sees makes his hand rub on AJ's shoulder a little, hoping to comfort him because AJ was genuinely terrified. But a few minutes left in the movie, AJ fell asleep. There, right on Niko's arm, curled up with Niko's shirt to protect his eyes from the light so he could sleep.

Niko bit the inside of his mouth. The man doesn't even know and realise the things he's doing to Niko.

Niko let the credits scene play along, and then picked up the man easily to put him in his room.

Niko pulled his blanket up to his chest, right where AJ loves it most and then closed the door carefully. The house was dark, and the only light in presence was from the outside and the recurring lighting. Niko was actually starting to get a little scared actually, and with each step he walked faster than before to his room and when he closed the door to his room. He could've sworn something was looking at him from the outside.

Stupid horror movies.
