Lilly
I woke up the next morning, still unprepared to go to my parent's house. I get up take a shower and then put this on.
I hop in my truck and drive to my bakery to open it up for the day. I'm still getting sympathetic looks and people dropping things off so I won't have to cook for myself. I made a mental note to contact the lawyer later today and find out what was in Mom and Dad's wills. I take a break around 10 and that's when I get the surprise of a lifetime. In comes waltzing my ex-best friend and his friends.
Hardy
We get to Lilly's bakery around 10 and she looks rough, more rough than Morgan's been and that's saying something. She's sitting in one of the chairs, fingers drumming the table. I reach out and touch her shoulder and she flinches, making me draw my hand back.
"What are you doing here?" She whispers
I let out a sigh as she gets up and faces us. I motion for the boys to head to the back to give us some space.
"WHAT ARE YOU DOING HERE MICHEAL!" She yells
"Officer Johnson called me and told me what happened, I just wanna be here for you, Lilly, I brought my friends to help with whatever I need," I say trying to be civil
"You let me here by myself when you promised you'd stay, I've needed you and you weren't there. I mean where were you when my grandma passed or when mom was in the hospital," She says
I reach out and grab her hand.
"I know I've been a shitty friend but I'm here now Lilly and I'm not leaving you again, I promise," I tell her
With those words, she throws herself in my arms and sobs. I rub her back and stroke her hair as she cries her heart out. People come inside, wanting to meet all of us but I have Chase and Earnest make them leave. Chase pulls out a chair and I sit down with Lilly on my lap as she continues to cry.
