That Night

The vehicle was sunk a few feet underwater. Yaz woke up and realized that the whole vehicle was flooding. Ben and Sammy woke up as well and realized what was happening. The dinosaur that was chasing them before found them and tried to break through the glass, but it suffered doing that and it sunk deeper into the ocean. "Now's our chance." Sammy tried to take her seatbelt off but it was stuck. Yaz helped, but Sammy was still whimpering and started getting a panic attack. Yaz tried to calm her down, "Sammy. You're okay. We can do this, but you NEED to listen to me, okay?" Sammy tried to calm down and nodded. "Good. Now, we just need to--" She gets cut off by the dinosaur colliding with the van again. It broke through the glass which caused the van to leak more.

After being saved from the Atrociraptors attacking, the car drove far far away. Kenji was still traumatized from what he witnessed. Darius was thanking the driver for saving them and the driver answered him. After getting a closer look at his face, Darius started getting doubts. "Wait, have we met before?" Then, he looked left and noticed Kenji's panic attack as he was breathing heavily. He tried to get his attention. The scene of his dad getting eaten was still being played in his head. Darius tried to get his attention, "Kenji? Kenji, are you okay?!"

Still traumatized, he tried to say, "Pull... pull over."

Kenji was breathing really heavily and Darius yelled at the driver, "Dude, pull over now!"

"I can't!" the driver started to panic, "Do I have to mention what happened to that guy?"

"Pull. Over!" Darius demanded. The driver followed his directions and pulled him over. Kenji immediately opened the door and dropped down to the ground. He started sobbing loudly. Darius and the driver get out too.

The driver was confused, "Is he okay?"

Darius explained, "That "guy" was his father."

"Oh. Sorry, I... I didn't know."

Darius walks up to Kenji. He realized who was next to him, "He's... he's gone."

Darius tried to calm him down, "I know. I know."

The driver noticed all this, but was still panicking, "Okay, I know this is not... look, if we don't want to end up like that guy... your uh... okay, we really gotta get going. That woman and her raptors can get to us at any moment, so we gotta leave."

Darius finally saw his face and he realized who the guy really was, "Whoa. Wait a second, you're from DPW. You were there the night Brooklyn died."

After Kenji realized that, his anger took over and began yelling at that DPW officer, "Are YOU the one doing this? First Brooklyn, now my dad? Are we next on your list?!"

The mysterious person who's now known to be a DPW officer pleaded, "No, please. Don't do anything to me. My name is Mateo. I swear on everything I have, I have NOTHING to do with your dad's death."

"And Brooklyn?"

"No please. I would be dead if it wasn't for her. Please, please. Let me go. I can tell you what happened!" the DPW officer now known as Mateo begged.

"We already know what happened. A rogue Allosaurus killed her!" Darius told him in anger.

Mateo explained, "It wasn't rogue, it was there on purpose!" Those words got the two boys confused. What was that dinosaur doing there on purpose? "I can tell you what happened but we really gotta get on the road before those insanely well-trained raptors get to us."

Kenji turned to Darius for his approval. "He DID just save our lives." Kenji decided to let him go. The three men got in the car and Mateo started driving.
