BREAKFAST 1

ACTS TWO; Scene One.

  A family is seen in their Dinning room, having dinner like a happy family but the attitude of A young girl sitting amidst them is striking and cannot go unnoticed . This young girl is seen eating and at the same time, using her phone. She boldly laughs and send text messages and voice notes to her friends and more as she eats. She goes by the name Amaka.

AMAKA : Ah ahn...why is Sophia calling me? ( She wonders as she stares at her phone in surprise) I mean,can't she come to my house? That's true. I haven't seen her for a while now. ( She finally picks up) Hey baby girl what's up now?

SOPHIA: (from the phone) I'm not fine..I'm not fine at all.

AMAKA: As usual ( she laughs) what is it this time again?

SOPHIA: James broke up with me.

AMAKA: okay. So he finally broke up with you. Wow he stayed long o. That's guy has tried with you abeg he should move on...ah ahn..how can you stay long with knew boy for over ten years....if I talk now you'll be saying he's my child hood sweet heart,he's my adult hold bitterness, he's my this..he's my that...now, he has broken up with you an ruined your STEEZE.

SOPHIA: Amaka...even you too?...I thought I'll be able to confide in you. ( She starts crying) I haven't been able to eat for almost one week...since last week Friday when I got the message from him...I-

AMAKA: Ehn..you didn't eat because you are not hungry.

SOPHIA: Amaka ! But.

AMAKA: Sophia! How can you be crying because of a boy? Put yourself together my friend and move on! Is he the only guy in School? Don't you know that there are many fishes in the river? ( She shouted in disgust! )! Ah! In ...in fact,I'm coming there now. ( When she hangs up she realizes that she has been shouting the whole time hence getting the attention of her parents and Siblings).

  She stands up and tried to leave the dinning room unnoticed.

DAD: And young lady...where are you going to?

AMAKA: Sir, me? I'm going to ..to..to Sophia's house. She isn't feeling too well.

DAD: And who do you expect to pack up for you?

AMAKA: Ah..ahn..can't someone else do it...Ihuoma do it now. ( She assigns her younger Sister to it).

DAD: Amaka!

AMAKA: Yes sir. ( She quickly cleans up her part of the table and runs out of the house to the next street where Sophia lives.)
 
Amaka knocks on the door veraciously. The door is opened by Juanita.

JUANITA: Um..if you are looking for Sophia,she is not around. Thank you.

AMAKA: Are you okay? come on leave the door for me let me pass Jo. Ah ahn..don't you know me? Is your mum around?

JUANITA: No..and no.

AMAKA: What do you mean by No and No. ( She pushes Juanita out if her way and walks into the house) Where is your Sister?

JUANITA: She is not around.

AMAKA: I'll slap you o. Don't you know me ? That's how you and Ihuoma would be acting like big girls when you guys have not seen life...you haven't sent life at all. Especially from guys.

JUANITA: But my Sister said if anybody comes to look for her, I should tell them that she is not around that's why.

AMAKA: For the last time where is she? ( She asked frustrated).

JUANITA: She is no where to be found...I..I mean in the kitchen.

AMAKA: Better! ( Amaka heads to the Kitchen and she is amazed and upset to see the way her friend looks.) ah! Haew! Sophia... Sophia..what has James done to you?

  Sophia moves towards Amaka to get her consoling hug from her but  Amaka quickly moves away from her with disgust.

AMAKA: Sophia! Don't touch me? I am so so so very very  very very disappointed  in you! Look at you? Just look  at you..
Sophia.

SOPHIA: You won't understand....I'm in so much pain right now..( she cries even more).

AMAKA: I feel like slapping you right now! What were you thinking? Do you think that the relationship would last longer than this?

SOPHIA: Yes...I thought we would get married,I thought we would have kids together.

AMAKA: Oh! shut up ! What's wrong with you? Are you a fool? How could you entertain such thoughts? Are you ..  okay . Let me show you something ( she brings out her phone and shows Sophia a video of James dancing in a party. This clearly showed that he had moved on without her). Are you seeing this? James has moved on. He was at Tamilore's birthday last week when you were here killing yourself over him! You have to move on. I couldn't even go to the party because of you.

SOPHIA: How?

AMAKA: See your mouth! How? You think I can stand being seen with a girl that was just freshly dumped or being recognized as her friend. Me? God forbid! Nothing would ever ruin my steeze. Ah! Do you know the shame that is in this? It was your fault! If you had listened to me ever since, you would have been the one celebrating..not him! ( Her phone rings ) Ah ...oh oh oh...my Dad is calling. Bye bye..I'm going home . Please ,you need to think about your life! Good night Sophia.

   Amaka leaves without giving Sophia a hug. Her words of encouragement stung Sophia's heart like a bee. She kept wondering why she had uncaring and selfish friends not denying the fact that she is one of them. Selfish and uncaring too.
  Sophia's phone rings and to her disgust, it was her annoying cell leader calling. She didn't want to pick up the call but some how,she was moved to.

SOPHIA: Um....hi Favour....
