As they faced the crowd, Rose and James were met with cheers and applause. They smiled and waved, their hearts full of gratitude and joy.
But Rose's eyes kept drifting back to Blackwood, who was watching her with an unnerving intensity. She could feel his anger and resentment, and she knew that he was plotting something.
Suddenly, a commotion broke out at the back of the crowd. People were pushing and shoving, and Rose's heart began to race.
"What's happening?" she asked James, her voice trembling.
James' eyes scanned the crowd, and then he saw it too. Blackwood was making a move, pushing his way towards them.
"Get behind me," James shouted, his hand on the hilt of his sword.
But Rose stood her ground, her eyes locked on Blackwood. She knew that she couldn't let him win, not now, not ever.
With a fierce cry, she charged forward, her crown falling to the ground. Blackwood sneered at her, but she stood tall, her heart full of courage.
And then, in a flash of steel, James was by her side, his sword drawn. Together, they faced Blackwood, ready to defend their kingdom, and their love.
The crowd gasped as Rose and James stood firm against Blackwood's attack. The king's guards rushed forward, surrounding Blackwood and pinning him to the ground.
"You fool," the king spat, his face red with anger. "You'll pay for your treachery."
Blackwood struggled against the guards, his eyes fixed on Rose with a malevolent glare. "You'll never be safe," he snarled. "I'll always come for you."
Rose stood tall, her heart pounding in her chest. She knew that she had to be brave, for herself and for James.
"We'll never let you hurt us again," she declared, her voice ringing out across the courtyard.
The king nodded in approval. "Take him away," he ordered. "Throw him in the dungeon, and let him rot."
As the guards dragged Blackwood away, Rose turned to James, her eyes shining with tears. "We did it," she whispered. "We're safe."
James wrapped his arms around her, holding her close. "We're safe, my love," he whispered back. "We're safe, and we're together."
The crowd erupted in cheers, and the king smiled, his eyes warm with approval. "Long live the prince and princess," he declared, his voice booming across the courtyard.
And as Rose and James embraced, they knew that their love would conquer all, no matter what challenges lay ahead.
