Cris' pov

"You're on" Maddie nodded and stood on one side of the net, along with her dad, "okay, Reynolds versus Ronaldo's" Geo said, and sat down to watch, with Megan and all the others, "Reynolds are winning for sure" Maddie smirked and got into position, "no way, Ronaldo's do it better" i scoffed. We were at the beach playing beach volleyball, i stood beside my dad, and Maddie stood beside her dad Ryan on the opposite side. We tossed a coin, it landed on tails, which meant the Reynolds were serving first. Ryan hit it over the net first, my dad hit it back, Maddie returned it, making it impossible for us to hit it back. "shit" i groaned under my breath when they scored a point. "Cris its only the first set" My dad patted me on the back, attempting to calm me down since he knew i was over competitive, Maddie on the other hand, was the exact same, thats what made us hate each other when we were younger, she always had to win in monopoly or uno, obviously i let her win, obviously.

time skip

"i hate to say it, but i told you so" Maddie grinned, "the hell you don't, its your favourite phrase" i rolled my eyes and walked back to the picnic blanket, Geo was sat under the umbrella with Bella. "well done Reynolds you may have won this time but the Ronaldo's are gonna crush you's next time" my dad laughed, sipping a pina colada. "lets go get lemonades" Maddie stood up, looking at me, "okay" i sighed, secretly happy to spend some time alone with her.
We waited in line for 5 minutes and finally got served, i paid for both mine and Maddie's lemonade, "what a gentleman you are" she smirked and took her lemonade from the server. "shut up" i rolled my eyes, attempting to hide my smirk, "whats that smirk for?" she looked at me, making it harder for me to hide my smirk, "what smirk?" i tried brushing it off, "nevermind" she huffed and as we reached the picnic blanket, she sat down, across from me. I glared at her when i seen her smile at me, her smile faded so fast.

📍The Villa

Maddie's pov

"what movie should we watch?" he grabbed the remote control and flicked through the options. Me and Cris were sat in his bed, eating takeout pizza. "how about...murder mystery" he looks down at me, "the one with Jennifer Aniston and Adam Sandler!!" my face lightens up, "yep, i know its you're favourite" he smiles a little and pressed play. As the movie progressed, we both shuffled closer to each other, he wrapped his arm around me and i layed my head on his shoulder, his body was tense. "You know i shouldve won today" he looks down at me, smiling, "no way" i look up at him, we make strong eye contact, his eyes flicker from my lips to my eyes, he looks back at the tv, and so do i, we were so close to kissing.

The movie finished and so did our snacks, i sigh and lean my head back, he looks at me and smiles a little. "you should probably go..." he gulps and looks away, "uh yeah" i nod, confused,
did i do something, i don't think so?
I get up from his bed and walk towards the door, i turn around, and open my mouth to talk but something stops me, i just turn around and walk out and into my room, Laying down on my bed, i was so confused, what the hell, i didn't do anything did i? he was such a confusing person i swear.
