The life of Maddison Evans was, like the one of every other senior at university, finding ways to start her career, while juggling with every other last assignment and her personal life, nothing too exciting.
Winding open the door of her last class of the day, another day had just finished, not just for her, but also for her best friend, Abigail.

She was the girl she had known for the longest in university, way back at their first year.

— I'm so tired, why can't it be already Friday? -she grunted, tiredly-
— Totally agree, and also, by the way, are you doing something more exciting than studying this weekend? -Abby asked her-
— I'm thinking of going back to Bristol  for the weekend, visit my dad, go around some places i used to go when I was younger - she smiled, at that thought-
— That seems like a nice plan
— Wanna come? I still think there are great pubs and bars, at least that's what I remember from seeing around -she told her-
— Yeah, sure, see, you just made me excited for Friday! -Abby chuckled-
— See you tomorrow then -Maddison laughed, as she turned the street-

Maddison was originally from Bristol, but moved towards London over 2 years ago, to pursue her dreams of being a journalist, and as much as she could have stayed in her hometown to do that, there were too many memories inside that small city, both good and bad ones, that made the decision of moving out of what she had always known an easier one.
In fact, sometimes a change in scenery from time to time always helps to erase the bad feelings around a place.

The trip back to her house from there wasn't very long, taking the chance to call back home to inform her family, well, her dad, about the recent plans about the weekend.
About her mother? Well, that's a bit 0f a traumatic experience, but she passed away when Maddison was fifteen, a year when her known world crumbled more than before.

Call in progress: Dad

Hey dad, how's everything going down there?
— Hey sweetheart, everything is as usual, just a bit tired, but as always, tell me about you, how's the last year treating you?

He sighed against his phone, a sign of that tiredness. He had always been a hard worker, being a businessman, to give her everything she could have ever needed, but especially after my mom's passing.

With the years, the thoughts about why he did that settled inside her head, as he tried, as every other one of us humans, to try to run away from the pain, shifting those grieving thoughts to the back of his mind by accepting more work.

And as much as Maddison also grieved her loss, the feelings around it were different from each one's reasoning: for her, she was her mother, but to his father, she was the love of his life, the one person that destiny tied together, an infatuated love strengthened with the years.

They were the perfect couple, like those in books that get a happy ending at the end. When she was younger, Maddison wished to find someone that could love her, at the very least, half of what her parents loved themselves.

All good, also, I'll be visiting this weekend, don't mind if I come with my friend Abby?
— No, of course not, just tell me when you girls are getting here so I'll pick you up
— You really didn't need to do that, but thanks Dad -she smiled against the screen-
I'll see you on Friday then, sweety, love you to the moon
— And beyond, love you dad

After she hung up, she had already arrived back at the house, closing the door after getting inside.
Her after class routine was as boring as her life seemed to be, only starting by hanging up the heys over a custom made key hanger, filled with her favorite moments from university.
