Englot one shot:
Charlotte spoke up to cut through the tense evening atmosphere.
"You're being truly and undoubtedly cruel to me in this very moment.
That knife you so gladly stabbed into my heart, here you are once again, twisting it further Engfa.
I'll be cruel to myself accepting your apology after the keen sting of pain offered to me by your so called love.""And you." Charlotte turned to Mew. "Quit trying to take advantage of my emotional fragility, your constant pestering will quickly turn my warm feelings of our friendship into resentment. "
Charlotte turned around to her friends who had hurdled around the fire, "So don't you try to save me, it's not worth the fight, you don't wanna know what keeps me up at night. Don't you try to change me, it's a waste of time.
Don't reach for my heart, it's empty inside."They had organized a getaway in hopes of reuniting the two lovers but a fight between Mew and Engfa rendered every effort futile.
Charlotte's eyes were shining with unshed tears.
"Now can I get a beer in peace? Thanks for letting me ruin the getaway trip and being the bad guy. Cheers!"
Charlotte walked off from the bonfire towards the beach, a beer in hand with rivers in her eyes, along the shore line of the sea as silence descended on the group of friends left surrounding the bonfire. The waves came crushing physically and metaphorically.
"We're gonna go after her." Marima and Heidi trailed after their best friend.
"Char?"
"Hey."
Heidi and Marima called out and inched closer to where Charlotte was sat on the sand crying her lungs out. They sat down with her.
Heidi was the first to speak up.
"Timе will never heal your scars and it might bе hard to fix a broken heart, but we can try to make you forget for a moment."
Marima followed.
"What if this is all we'll ever have?
We can try to make it count, don't hold onto the past and we could light up the sky of tomorrow. We will lead the way and let us ease your pain. When it feels like the whole world is against you we will carry you through your darkest days. Okay Monkey?"Charlotte hugged her best friends as she gradually calmed down from her extreme emotions that left her frazzled.
"Why am I so dependent? Thoughts running through my mind. My shoulders carry all the pressure. Even though I'm so relentless, no matter how hard I try, it feels like it ain't getting better." Her voice had a wooden feel to it.
"If only I can find the light to illuminate the dark inside and escape from all the fears I hold in me." She continued.
"What if I could let go? Both feet off the ground.
What if there's a place where all my troubles can't be found? And what if I would reach it? My mind up in the clouds.
What if I just break away from noises in the crowd? When gravity's not around?" She gazed out to the sea as the dusk was fast getting darker.Heidi panicked hearing where her friend's head was at.
"Charlotte snap out of it! You promised, remember?! No more entertaining such thoughts!" Heidi's tone was firm but sharp.
Marima was shaken too. "We are at fault for inviting Engfa over. We saw you were getting better. I'll apologize on everyone's behalf but if seeing Engfa again means reverting then no more, she can stay away. It will never happen again!"
Heidi nodded to highlight her agreement with Marima.
Charlotte sighed and agreed "Okay. I'm kinda tired, so I would like to sleep."
"Let's get back inside before we catch a cold" Heidi and Marima helped Charlotte stand up and guided her back to their room back at the resort using a different route to avoid the friend group.
As soon as they tucked her in bed, they both texted Nudee and Chompu to keep Engfa away from Charlotte as they were much closer to her than they were.
It was obvious the friend group felt guilty on how the situation evolved with everyone not being in the mood to mingle the next day. Charlotte had left in the wee hours of the morning without saying anything.
Engfa felt shattered and miserable. For she had destroyed the love of her life with her own capable hands.
