Too Sweet // Draco Malfoy

Celestes pov:

     Once Blaise and Pansy sat down, Dumbledore cleared his throat and began his speech. "Good evening Children, Now we have two changes in staffing this year. We're pleased to welcome back Professor Grubbly-Plank who'll be taking Care of Magical Creatures, while professor Hagrid is on temporary leave." He said. Hagrid was on leave? That was news to me. He was very close to Harry so I wonder if it has anything to do with his almost expulsion. Before I could think anymore Dumbledore continued his speech. "We also wish to welcome our new Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher, Professor Dolores Umbridge, and I'm sure you'll all join me in wishing the professor good luck."

     I looked at the row of teachers to spot which one Umbridge was. She wasn't hard to miss, wearing a obnoxiously all pink outfit. I loved pink, but that, that was too much. "Now as usual, our caretaker Mr. Filch has asked-" Dumbledore began to speak again but was cut off my Professor Umbridge clearing her throat and raising a hand. Everyone looked at her in confusion as she slowly rose from her seat. Actually she barely rose at all, she had to have been 4'10 at the most. 

     "Thank you, headmaster for those kind words of welcome, and how lovely to see all your bright, happy faces smiling up at me. I'm sure we're all going to be very good friends." She said approaching Dumbledores podium. His face even got a soft giggle out of me, he looked completely dumbfounded. "The Ministry of Magic has always considered the education of young witches and wizards to be of vital importance. Although each Headmaster has brought something new to this historic school... progress for the sake of progress must be discouraged. Let us preserve what must be preserved, perfect what can be perfected, and prune practices that ought to be prohibited" She said as she whispered 'prohibited' and let out an annoying giggle. 

     She nodded and walked away back to her seat at the head table. Dumbledore began applauding and although most of the students were confused and also dumbfounded we slowly did to. "Thank you, Professor Umbridge. That really was most illuminating." Dumbledore began speaking again. 

     "Um no I already don't like her" Ophelia whispered to me. 

     "Me neither, she gives me the heebie-jeebies" I whisper back. 

     "Agreed... so do you think you're gonna go see Draco tonight?" She asked me continuing to whisper. 

     "I don't know, I have to unpack."

     "Girl do not worry about unpacking I know where all your stuff goes."

     "Fine, but only if he wants to."

     "I have a feeling he does, you should've seen him on the train. He was basically ogling you the whole time." Ophelia said causing me to giggle slightly. Soon enough dinner was over and we all left the great hall. Ophelia and I we're some of the first people out so we sat and waited for the others. Luna was next and she said down next to us. 

     "The new professor... her energy is all wrong." Luna says. 

     "Ok if Luna doesn't like her then she's definitely bad news" Ophelia says.  

     "Agreed" I said as Draco, Pansy, and Blaise walked out. 

     "God I can already tell this year is going to suck," Pansy said groaning as they all sat down with us. 

     Draco sat next to me while the other's talked. "Do you want to meet up tonight?" He asked me. 

     "You don't have to unpack?" I asked.

     "I can do that tomorrow, I haven't seen you all summer." 

     "Then sure, same spot?"

     "As always."

     "Yeah," I say feeling my cheeks heat up. 

     "Umm hello? Celeste are you even listening?" Pansy says snapping me out of my conversation with Draco. 

     "Oh sorry, what's up?" I ask. 

     "I was just telling Luna and Ophelia that the Slytherins are hosting a party this weekend. You guys should come, we can all get ready together." She says. I glance at Draco and he lightly rolls his eyes.

     "Dumbass I was gonna ask her" He says.

     "It's fine, yeah I'll go." I say. 

     "Perfect... well we should probably head to our common rooms but I'll see you tomorrow." She says standing up with Blaise.

     "Yeah me too" Luna says standing up as well. 

     "We probably all should." Ophelia says.

     We all stand up and Draco turns me to, "10 o'clock?" he says. All I can manage to do is nod my head before Ophelia is pulling me away towards out dorm. We finally reach our dorm and I begin unpacking as much as I can. I look at the clock and notice it's already 9:30. I quickly change back into Cedrics sweater and a pair of leggings. I whip up some tea and slip my shoes on. I say goodbye to Ophelia and head towards the pond to meet Draco. 

     "You beat me here" I say. 

     "Yeah, sorry Pansy asked you to the party before I could." He says as I sit next to him.

     "No need to apologize, I would've said yes either way."

     "I know, I just wanted to ask you myself.. anyways I know we wrote each other a bunch but how was your summer?"

     "It was good, spent most of the time with my grandparents. I also saw Luna, Ophelia, and even Pansy."

     "Yeah, Pansy told me about that. She showed me the picture you're grandparents took of you guys."

     "I forgot about that, yeah Pansy took me out to dinner and insisted I dress nice." I said. 

     "You did look nice, really nice." He said. 

     "Thank you" I say feeling my cheeks burn up again.
