Castles

They live in castles.
A safe space with its brick walls surrounding them, protecting them
From the harsh cruelties of the outside world.

But to me, the outside world feels free.
Like a breath of fresh air and a sigh of relief.

And when I must return, the walls don't protect me. They weigh on me.
My castle's walls aren't strong. These stones crumble down, crushing me, burying me.

They don't protect me from the harsh cruelties for the cruelties come from within.
The cold wind whips through these corridors, biting my skin.
