Jasmine's Narration:
Summer's supposed to be chill, right? Wrong. Tinisha, Brook, and me, we got big plans. Beach trips, parties, just livin' it up before college. But then Jerrick steps into the picture. He's got that smooth talk, those eyes that make you weak. We start hangin' out, and it's all good until Tinisha starts actin' weird.
"Jas, you know Jerrick be talkin' to other girls, right?" she says one day.
"Nah, you trippin'. He's into me," I reply, but deep down, I'm doubting.
Brook's been actin' shady too, spreadin' rumors like wildfire. It all blows up at this party we hit up. Tinisha confronts me, and next thing you know, we're yellin', throwin' words like daggers.
Jasmine's Narration:
The party's lit, music pumpin', and everyone's havin' a good time. I'm with Jerrick, laughin' and dancin', tryin' to forget about all the drama. But I can't ignore the looks Tinisha's been givin' me all night. Finally, she storms over, her face tight with anger.
"Jas, we need to talk," she says, pulling me aside.
"What's up, T?" I ask, tryin' to keep it cool.
"Jerrick's been playin' you, girl. I saw him with Keisha last week," she snaps.
My heart sinks. "You serious?"
"Dead serious. I ain't wanna believe it either, but he's messin' with your head," Tinisha says, her voice softer now.
Before I can respond, Brook joins us, lookin' guilty as hell. "I... I heard the same thing," she admits.
I feel like I've been punched in the gut. Betrayed by Jerrick, unsure who to trust. "Why didn't y'all tell me sooner?"
"We didn't wanna hurt you," Brook says, tears in her eyes.
"I thought you'd see it for yourself," Tinisha adds.
Anger and hurt bubble up inside me. "Y'all should've had my back from the jump. This is messed up."
I walk away, leavin' them standin' there, feelin' more alone than ever.
Jasmine's Narration:
The next few days are a blur of emotions. I can't believe Jerrick played me like that, and my best friends kept it from me. I avoid them, needin' time to think. But Tinisha, bein' the ride-or-die she is, shows up at my house.
"Jas, we need to talk," she says, standin' in my doorway.
I sigh, lettin' her in. "Yeah, we do."
We sit on my bed, the tension thick. "I'm sorry, Jas. I messed up," Tinisha starts. "I thought I was protectin' you, but I should've been honest."
I nod, feelin' my anger melt a little. "I just... I thought y'all had my back."
"We do, always. But sometimes we mess up too," she says, her voice earnest.
Brook texts me, askin' if she can come over too. I agree, knowin' we need to hash this out together.
When Brook arrives, she's all apologies. "I'm so sorry, Jas. I didn't know how to tell you."
We sit in silence for a moment, then I take a deep breath. "I forgive y'all. But we gotta promise to be real with each other, no matter what."
They agree, and we hug it out. It ain't perfect, but it's a start.
Jasmine's Narration:
With the drama behind us, we try to enjoy the rest of the summer. But things ain't the same. There's a new tension, a reminder of how fragile trust can be. I keep my distance from Jerrick, focusin' on my friends and my future.
