Okay so maybe Dazai wasn't as bad as Chuuya thought, but that doesn't mean he liked him though. he definitely didn't like him romantically, that was the last thing he would ever consider and he didn't like Dazai as a friend either. Chuuya did not like Dazai in general. Just because he didn't despise Dazai doesn't mean he likes him either.

Being in History class was Chuuyas biggest problem, he would do anything to skip this class or drop it. Unfortunately, the class was mandatory. In fact, Chuuya skipped history until he was missing every other class and was getting yelled at by his parents every time he did, eventually, he got sick of the yelling and punishments and just decided to attend history. It's not like Chuuya disliked history itself, it actually used to be his favorite class until his teacher Ms. Rivera came and made history class miserable. Ms. Rivera made it clear from her actions on the first day of school that she did not like teaching or children in general. She would scream at you if you asked any questions, wouldn't let you go to the bathroom or drink water at all, and if you scored lower than a B minus on a test she would give you a detention. The worst part about it, in Chuuya's opinion at least, was that the other staff and teachers didn't care, they all saw the way she treated students and gave them detentions unfairly but they didn't care. Sometimes she was okay for example right now she's talking about some project that we're gonna do, and she says we can write about any topic as long as it is school-appropriate. It may seem like she's being cool and letting us pick the topic but the only reason she's letting us is that she's too lazy to grade any work with a bit more effort and thinking required.

"Okay people so we are going to" - she gets cut off by the loud noise of the bell
"Ding ding ding!"

Students around Chuuya have started getting up and gathering their stuff Ms. Rivera notices and quickly says. "The bell does not dismiss you I do, stay seated people."

Chuuya grabs his bag and walks out of the class"I can't deal with her bullshit today" He thinks to himself while walking out of the classroom. Everyone is staring at him; he can feel it, every person in that room is staring at him and it doesn't feel good to be the center of attention, except while skating. But the feeling he gets in class of everybody staring at him is different than the feeling of everybody staring at him when he's skating. While he's skating everybody is staring at him because his skating is mesmerizing and because they want to watch, not because they have nothing better to watch.

As soon as Chuuya walks out of the classroom he runs down the hallway as fast as he can until he turns the corner and finally slows down his pace, then stops. Chuuya is breathing heavily, he leans against the wall next to him, closing his eyes and letting his body relax for a second.
"Thank god I got away," He thinks while slowly opening his eyes to reveal Dazai staring at him while leaning way too close to Chuuya's face.

"Agh!" Chuuya yells startled and pushes Dazai away from himself. "what the hell are you doing? I know I'm handsome but you don't have to stare at me!"

Dazai smiled "Don't make me laugh, you handsome? If anything you're pretty not handsome."

Chuuya felt somewhat embarrassed and somewhat grateful for that backhanded compliment. Did Dazai just call him pretty? Did that asshole really just say he's not handsome he's pretty. Well fuck Dazai, Chuuya is the most handsome boy alive.

"fuck off," Chuuya muttered punching Dazai in the stomach.

"Ow bad Chuuya that hurt!." Dazai said dramatically falling back leaning on the wall with his left hand over his forehead.

"Don't speak to me like I'm your dog, loser." Chuuya spouted

"Oh, I'm so offended by that very hurtful comment!"

(At lunch)

Chuuya sat at his usual spot under the tree. There was no point in going to the cafeteria when all his friends had different lunch periods, not like he had many friends anyway but that's besides the point. Another downside of the cafeteria was that it was also loud, Chuuya prefered to sit under a tree in the yard instead; most of the time it was quiet and peaceful letting Chuuya either go on his phone and play a game or listen to music while he eats, considering the tree is in a small secluded area of the yard it's pretty easy to not get caught on his phone.

Today was no different from other days. Chuuya sat under the tree listening to music while eating a bowl of sopa de Fideo (a Mexican soup) Lunch break was nice until Dazai came and just ruined it by being alive.

"Fuck do you want?" Chuuya asked Watching Dazai sit down next to him.

"Just checking up on Chuuya because he looks lonely, not like I care though" Dazai said in a teasing tone.

"Well piss off go hang out with your friends"

Moments of silence pass by.

Chuuya starts laughing uncontrollably
"You don't have any friends do you!" Chuuya manages to say in between his laughing spree.

Even a while after that comment Dazai was still bothering Chuuya, not letting him have even one moment of peace.

"So Chuuya, why do you ice skate?"

Chuuya is a bit caught off guard at the sudden change from sarcastic comments to a genuine or at least from what he could tell was a genuine question. But nonetheless, he replied with
"My mom used to take me ice skating when I was little, I guess I just decided to stick with it.  Mori found me ice skating and said he saw I had potential and wanted to help me; I accepted his offer and now I'm being partnered up with you after a year or two of doing solo skating for competitions."

"I don't know why he would pick someone so short" Dazai mockingly replied "Can the crowd even see you skate or are you too small for that, assuming you even have a crowd of course."

"Lay off about my size jackass!"

The brunette chuckled
"Poor slug needs to drink more milk!"

Chuuya sighs, "Anyway what about you, how did you start skating?

Dazai stares for a moment hesitant to answer,
The look on his face turns a bit sad but also happy, like a bittersweet expression. Finally, he responds
"My father."

Chuuya tries not to press more for an explanation; it's obvious Dazai doesn't want to talk about it, but that only leaves Chuuya more curious about what happened. Eventually, he gives in to his curiosity and starts off by asking a small question hoping it will turn into Dazai giving him a bit more info.

"So uh, why did you suddenly transfer here? I mean it's still early into the school year so why now?"

Dazai's expression shifts slightly from a bittersweet face to just being (from what Chuuya can tell) sad and disappointed.
"My father passed from a train wreck, and my other dad thought we needed a change in scenery."

Chuuya doesn't know what to do in this situation, does he say "Sorry for your loss" or would Dazai think that's pity? Should he not say anything?

...

"I'm so sorry." Chuuya manages to mumble, he looks at the ground while doing so.

(A/N) This chapter is a bit shorter than usual!
It is currently 1:40 AM and I'm tired and I can't think of anything else + I think this a good way to end the chapter. Also! This fic is an ice skating fic but I actually don't ice skate and it will probably become more obvious in later chapters. I have no idea which ice skating moves are which, but I'm gonna try and learn a bit more about it so I know more than just what "quads" and "axels" are also yes this is kind of a school AU too and it's honestly a bit more school AU than ice skating at the current time I'm writing this but let's hope that will change in later chapters!
