I pushed open the door, expecting to find Regina, the icy business woman, immersed in my project's details. Instead, I was met with a scene that sent a jolt of irritation through me.

There she was, the woman who'd been never nice to me instead all she did was barking orders through countless video calls, laughing with Sergei, my assistant. The contrast was jarring. The Regina I knew was all sharp edges and calculated moves. This woman, with her softened features and genuine smile, is not her.

My entrance broke the spell. Their heads snapped up, and I saw a flicker of something in Regina's eyes - a mix of surprise and a hint of... amusement? It was a look that infuriated me.

My gaze locked onto Sergei, who seemed to shrink under my scrutiny.

"Sergei, I need you to..."

"I'll handle it." He cut in, his voice laced with nervousness.

I nodded and he left the room.

My focus shifting back to Regina. She is more striking in person. The photos didn't do her justice. There was a fire in her eyes, a spark of intelligence that promised to be as challenging as the project itself.

She was dressed in a sharp white pantsuit, a stark contrast to the dark surroundings of my office. It was as if she was deliberately overplaying her role, a subtle assertion of dominance. I found it intriguing.

"Mr. Petrov" she said while standing up, her voice regaining its usual frosty tone and this added fuel to my fire. "Finally."

I gestured to the chair across from me. "Please, Ms. Moretti. Let's leave these formalities."

She sat down, her posture erect, a subtle declaration of independence. "I understand there are some issues with the project."

I leaned forward, my gaze locked on hers. "Indeed. The atrium, for one. A huge oversight. And the acoustics... a disaster waiting to happen."

She met my gaze, unaverred. "My team is working on it."
