Friday frantically searched around her dorm room. It seemed her red hair ties were missing from the dresser and she only had five minutes until science began.

"I'm sure whatever you're looking for is very interesting but we have science and that's one of the not so many classes I like and I'd much prefer not to miss it" said Melanie, who had now got up off her bed and was probably indicating for Friday to follow her. Until she stopped in the hallway. Making Friday also topple back.

"What are you doing? Asked Friday now with her hair flowing just above her shoulders.

Melanie didn't answer, instead she spun on her heels and smiled.

"Give them back!" said Friday.

"Give what back?" asked Melanie innocently.

"The hair ties" replied Friday.

"What hair ties?" said Melanie.

"Melanie please i have no energy to find them myself" said Friday

"What a shame, goodbye" said Melanie, walking off.

Friday watched as she turned the corner. Her eyes turned to her hair as flowed down from each side of her head and resting on both shoulders.

She let out a deep sigh.

...

Friday could see her science classroom just up ahead. Walking through the open door she was greeted by Mr spencer.

"Your late Barnes," scolded Mr spencer with a grumble in his throat.

"Sorry," Responded Friday, taking a seat at the back with Melanie. She placed her satchel under her stool and paid attention to Mr spencer.

"Haven't we already done this?" whispered Melanie.

"Yes bu-"

Mr spencer had looked up and was staring at Melanie and Friday. The girls didn't dare move a muscle. He slowly turned around and started writing on the board.

"Yes but we have to redo it because the girls up the front weren't listening and almost caught the classroom on fire," whispered Friday from the corner of her mouth.

"Oooh, yeah I don't remember that," said Melanie.

"You were asleep when it happened," answered Friday, trying super hard not to talk to loud.

"That was a good nap," pointed out Melanie.

"Okay, Go," announced Mr spencer to the class. Students started scrambling across the room trying to find all the parts for their experiment.

"May as well wait for the traffic to slow down a bit," said Ian coming over from the opposite station.

"Oh definitely," replied Melanie. Friday jumped off her stool. And went to gather her and Melanie's supplies.

When Friday arrived back hands filled with items. Ian and Melanie were talking about puppies. She dumped her stuff on the counter. And Ian headed back across the row.

"Friday?" said Melanie. Friday looked up then to Melanie.

"Mhm?" answered Friday, plugging the Bunsen burner into the gas.

"I stole your hair ties," admitted Melanie. Friday gasped.

"I knew it!" wailed Friday. "I knew you stole them."

"You can't blame me, You look pretty with your hair out," grinned Melanie.

Friday turned the collar onto safety flame. "I can't believe you."

"Can you turn the gas on when i light the match?" asked Friday. Melanie nodded in response.

Friday swiped the match and a flame appeared, Melanie turned the nozzle to the gas and the Bunsen burner blew up into bright flames.

"Do you wanna do it or should I?" asked Friday to Melanie.

"Knock yourself out," replied Melanie. Friday stared at Melanie confused and with disbelief.

"It's a metaphor," said Melanie.

"Oh right," answered Friday. Friday grabbed the tongs and put a piece of magnesium in between them.

"Ready?" asked Friday. Melanie nodded. Friday slid the collar and the yellow flame became blue. Friday held the tongs holding the piece of magnesium and slowly put it into the flame. Suddenly the end of the tongs became very bright. Like a mini sun. Then it was gone.

"Woah," said Melanie. Friday smiled.

"I think i looked at it for to long, because now all i see is a ball of where it once was," said Melanie. Friday laughed.

"It'll go away," promised Friday.
