In the Morning
In Professor Lupin's class
Snape stormed into Professor Lupin's classroom, his mood unmistakably dark. With a flick of his wand, he slammed the shutters closed, blocking out the daylight. He moved purposefully to the front of the class and yanked down the projector screen.
"Turn to page 394," Snape instructed sharply.
The students hurriedly opened their textbooks, the room buzzing with whispers of confusion.
Oliver raised his hand. "Excuse me, Professor. Where is Professor Lupin?"
Snape's tone was icier than usual. "That's not really your concern, Mr. Queen." His words were clipped, betraying a hint of irritation.
He continued, "Suffice it to say that Professor Lupin is currently unable to teach. Turn to page 394." With another wave of his wand, the projector whirred to life.
Ron, visibly flustered, fumbled through his book. Snape used his wand to flip the pages to the correct number with a flickering glare.
Ron peered at the page and muttered, "'Werewolves'?"
Hermione, puzzled, addressed Snape directly. "But, sir, we've just started learning about Red Caps and hinkypunks. We're not scheduled to begin nocturnal beasts for weeks."
"Quiet," Snape snapped, his patience wearing thin.
Ron, curious, leaned towards Oliver and asked, "When did she come in? Did you see her?"
Oliver shrugged. "No, I didn't see her come in either."
Snape's gaze swept over the classroom. "Now... who can tell me the difference between an Animagus and a werewolf?"
Hermione and Oliver's hands shot up almost simultaneously. Snape raised an eyebrow, his gaze landing on the pair.
"Mr. and Mrs. Queen. How delightful."
Both Oliver and Hermione replied in unison, "We're not married."
Snape smirked. "And just last night, I heard you were engaged. Congratulations on the engagement."
As Snape's words hung in the air, the classroom erupted into a flurry of whispers and side glances. The students exchanged surprised looks and hushed conversations.
"Did you hear that? They're engaged?" Parvati whispered to Lavender, who gaped at her friend in disbelief.
"Seriously?" Lavender responded, her eyes widening. "I thought they were just close friends."
Neville leaned towards Seamus. "I didn't even know they were dating. Did anyone?"
Seamus shook his head, looking equally astonished. "No clue. This is the firI'veIhearding about it."
Ron, trying to regain his composure, muttered to Harry, "I can't believe Snape just dropped that bombshell like it was nothing."
Harry, equally stunned, replied, "Yeah."
Hermione, trying to ignore the growing chatter around her, shot Oliver a worried glance. "This wasn't exactly how I planned for people to find out."
Oliver squeezed her hand reassuringly. "I know. It'll die down soon. Let's just get through this lesson."
Snape, noticing the buzz of gossip, gave a disapproving glare to the class. "Quiet! Let's focus on the lesson. We're here to learn about werewolves, not to indulge in idle gossip."
The students quickly turned their attention back to their textbooks, though the occasional whisper and curious glance towards Hermione and Oliver persisted.
