Going back to her old house, Swati looked at the marriage certificate she was holding in her hand, then glanced out from the taxi window. What a turn her life had taken overnight! A thought of her current situation made her laugh at herself as she wiped the tears from her eyes. She promised herself that from today she would not shed a tear for Nakul anymore.
The taxi pulled up to her apartment building, and she paid the driver, stepping out onto the familiar pavement. The building that once felt like a home now seemed like a relic of a past life. She walked towards her apartment, the steps heavy with memories of what once was and the uncertainty of what lay ahead. As she reached her door and looked up to unlock it, she was startled to see Agastya standing there, his face a mask of emotionlessness.
"W-what are you doing here? And how did you get my address?"
Swati stammered, her heart pounding.
Agastya removed his sunglasses and gave her a thorough once-over before responding.
"There is nothing in this industry I can't find out."
"Oh, right."
Suddenly, the realization hit her that she hadn't married a normal man; she had married a man who was feared by everyone here.
"Come inside,"
Swati said, opening her apartment door and stepping in, holding it open to let Agastya enter. A corner of his lips lifted upward in a rare half-smile as he spoke.
