The next two chapters are old works that's I've done and are not indicative of my current investment in the series or writing style/maturity, I'm posting them here in place holder of some more stories I'm working on while I work.

It doesn't take long for the rain to suddenly clear. The actual pitter-patter of the rain didn't stop, nor did the cold breeze quit, but Xie Lian was suddenly shielded by more than just his straw hat. He looked up and smiled warmly at the face turned back to him. "San lang," he said affectionately.

Hua Cheng smiled, holding a red umbrella over his head. He offered his hand, assuring Xie Lian that he was always covered from the rain and that his own clothes would dry when he wore them. His highness didn't need to be wet. "I didn't even hear you behind me," Xie Lian said. Hua Cheng's eye squinted ever so slightly with pleasure.

"I wanted to surprise you, Gege," Hua Cheng stated, and Xie Lian could only smile. He was walking back to the Piqi shrine and had stopped to fondle with the soft white flowers growing by the pathway on the way up.

"Do you like those flowers, Gege?" Hua Cheng asked. Xie Lian had piqued his interest now, and the god smiled and nodded.

"They're very pretty. Don't you think so, San Lang?" Xie Lian plucked one and raised it to Hua Cheng's eyes. Hua Cheng nodded, took the flower, and tucked it behind the Daoists ear. It complemented his face and his sharpened features, but his light, puffy eyes complimented the delicate flower. The god's cheeks flushed a soft pink as they walked.

Xie Lian was abruptly picked up from the ground and held onto the umbrella for San Lang. "Ah, San Lang! You really don't have to." He laughed softly, noticing the dirty puddles beneath their feet. Hua Cheng smiled softly. "But I want to."

The duo arrived at Piqi Shrine and removed their wet shoes and clothes. Xielian still adorned Rouye as usual, wrapped comfortably around his neck and wrists. He began to cut and place carrots and onions into a large cast iron pot and hummed softly as the vegetables sang in the pot.

"Why won't you call me by my name, Gege?" Hua Cheng asked softly. He wore San Lang's face; his hair wasn't in a ponytail, unlike usual. Xie Lian thought for a moment while the onions browned. He cut up celery, potatoes, and leeks and turned

"I like it; to me, you're San Lang first! It belongs to you." Xie Lian turned back to his cooking and sang softly. Hua Cheng made a soft noise of acknowledgement and stood from his bed, standing closely behind Xie Lian, resting his head on his shoulder. Xie Lian didn't seem to mind and rather leaned back against him. His eyes closed in comfortable thought. The knife had been placed down for a moment while Hua Cheng's arms snaked around his body.

"You're rather cuddly today?" Xie Lian opened his eyes momentarily and turned his head slightly, feeling Hua Cheng blow raspberries against his neck. He smiled at the childish behavior and returned to his cutting, swaying softly to his own song. A song from while Xianle was not only prosperous, but when his mother sang him the lullaby, he fell asleep.
"What song is that, Gege?" Hua Cheng asked, rubbing his bandaged wrist, taking the knife, and cutting for him instead. "It's a song my mother used to sing," he said thoughtfully. thinking back to the past. He opened his eyes and stared out the rainy window. "She used to sing it to me when I couldn't sleep."

Hua Cheng softly hummed and stood straight; his arms remained around the Daoist. "When will you come to bed?" the calamity asked, taking his hand and pressing into the softness of his palm. While misfortune and war always fell on Xie Lian, his skin remained fair and soft to the touch, even his palms, which should have been calloused and battered.
