The Jeep turned quickly into the parking lot, making a screeching noise as Eli took the turn too fast. He sped into a parking spot, putting the Jeep in park before hopping out of the car, leaving the keys in the ignition. He wouldn't be in there long. Just needed to drop off Scott's package.

He stepped up to the vet office, pulling the door open and walking inside.

Eli glanced towards the back of the office, his eyes falling on the closed gate in between them.

He rolled his eyes, stepping up to the gate.

"Deaton?" He called out. "Hey, Deaton!" He sighed. "You know I can't get through when the gates shut!"

From around the corner, a girl appeared. Eli freezes upon seeing her, a cautious look on his face.

"Can I help you with something?" She asked, a stubborn look on her face.

Eli blinked a few times, caught off guard by this girl that he had never seen before.

"Uh, is Deaton here?" He asked.

"If you're referring to the man Deaton, then no," she said. "I can help you though."

"You're a Deaton?" Eli asked.

The girl nodded. "Carrie Deaton." She gestured to the package in his hands. "Can I help you?"

"Oh, uh, yeah," Eli said, reaching forward to hand her the package, but she simply waved him off. He furrowed his brows, lowering his arms. "Could you give this to Deaton. Tell him it's from Scott."

Her brows twitched. "McCall?"

Eli nodded, then furrowing his brows. He watched the girl for a moment, taking in everything about her. She oddly didn't look like Deaton, and she seemed to be about his age. If Deaton had a kid this whole time, Eli felt like he would've known.

"Where did you come from?" he asked.

"I adopted her," Deaton said, coming in through the front door. "Recently." He sighed, walking over and pulling the gate open. "I'm sorry, my dear, I forget you can't get through."

"Oh, it's alright," Carrie grinned. "I was just stuck here for the past two hours trying to call you."

"You couldn't get through the gate?" Eli asked.

"She is like you, Eli," Deaton explained. "Well, not exactly." Deaton grabbed the package from Eli, handing it to Carrie. She disappeared around the corner. "Carrie here, is a nixie. A water sprite."

"What's that?" Eli asked.

"Exactly what it sounds like, werewolf," Carrie said, returning from around the corner.

Eli furrowed his brows. "So you, what, control water?"

Carrie rolled her eyes, "Yes, actually, among other things." She reached next to Eli, grabbing a pair of keys and starting towards the front door. "See ya later, dad," she said. She then nodded to Eli. "Eli."

"Y-yeah," Eli said, turning back to Deaton.

When he turned back, Deaton had a suspicious eyebrow raised.

"Watch it," he warned. Eli threw his arms up in defense. Deaton then turned to the package. "What is it?"

Eli shrugged. "I dunno. He wouldn't say."

"Then thank you," Deaton said. "And unless you need something else, I suggest you go get in your car before someone steals it."

Eli saluted awkwardly, turning to sprint out of the vet office, watching as Carrie pulled out of the parking lot in her own blue buggie.
