I stand in front of my mirror, adjusting the straps of my spaghetti-strapped red and black floral print contrast lace cami bodycon dress. It clings to my curves, accentuating every inch of my body just the way I like. My medium-length hair is silk-pressed to perfection, flowing smoothly down my shoulders. I reach for my dark lip liner and deep caramel lipstick, expertly applying them to my medium caramel skin. The 90s inspired makeup look is almost complete as I add the final touches. I step back, admiring myself in the mirror, feeling both confident and nostalgic.

Tonight is Sylvia and Noah's wedding rehearsal dinner. Sylvia and I have known each other in my mom's classroom as my mom was our elementary school teacher in Pre-K and second grade. Sylvia, Noah, Jacqueline, me, and of course, Jeremy have all known each other since forever. Our tight-knit group has grown up together, and it's incredible to see how our relationships have evolved over the years.

I introduced Sylvia and Noah back in Pre-K. It feels like a lifetime ago, and now they're getting married tomorrow. But there's a knot in my stomach. I know Jeremy is back in town. After four years in New York, he's returned to Los Angeles, and I've been dreading this moment.

Jeremy and I used to be inseparable. We shared everything. Both our parents happen to be best friends since they were teenagers in the seventies and Jeremy and I have known each other since we were in our mothers' wombs. But three years ago, everything changed. He believed his ex-girlfriend's lies about me and our friendship was shattered. Seeing him again is the last thing I want, especially tonight. This night is about Sylvia and Noah.

I take a deep breath and slip into my heels. "You can do this," I whisper to myself. The rehearsal dinner is important, and I won't let anything ruin it for Sylvia and Noah. I grab my clutch and head out the door, determination fueling my steps.

As I walk out of my room, I see my family gathered in the living room, ready to leave for the venue. My mother looks stunning in an elegant emerald green gown that compliments her rich, ochre skin. Her Dominican roots shine through in her high cheekbones and expressive eyes. My father stands beside her in a tailored black suit, his Mexican heritage evident in his warm brown skin and strong features. They've been married for 44 years, and their love is still as vibrant as ever.

"Cecilia, you look absolutely gorgeous," my mother says, her eyes filled with pride. "That dress is perfect on you."

"Thank you, Mami," I reply, smiling warmly. "You look amazing too. Both of you."

My six siblings are also dressed to impress. My brothers, Luc and Eric, are in sharp suits, while my twin older sisters, Sheila and Carlissa, wear beautiful dresses that reflect their unique styles. My young brother, Jake stands out with his suit, looking dapper as always while Zayna looks like a princess as always.

"Ready to go?" My father asks, his voice full of excitement.

"Ready," I nod, feeling a wave of love and support from my family. With them by my side, I know I can face anything.

I get in my car The venue is stunning, with fairy lights twinkling overhead and elegant decorations adorning every corner. I spot Sylvia and Jacqueline near the entrance, laughing together. They look beautiful, and I can't help but smile.

"Cecilia, you look amazing!" Sylvia exclaims, pulling me into a tight hug.

"Thank you, Sylvia. So do you," I reply, hugging her back. "Are you ready for tomorrow?"

"I am, thanks to you and Jacqueline," she says, glancing at her sister. "We couldn't have done this without you."

I smile warmly at both of them. "It's my pleasure. Anything for you."
