I am a highschooler, who has detectives as parents. My best friend and childhood crush (still is) does not know the truth of her life. I tried to help her, but every time I try to say something we get interrupted before I get a word out.

For example, when we were in my room my Stepdad walked in and he started talking about the football game downstairs. Which he was never interested in. Then we had my mom who walked in when I had my shoe box out. She wanted to talk to Bree about my brother. I never felt more alone than in that moment. I did not know why mom came in that day; she should have been at work. I stopped trying to tell Bree the truth, since I do not even know it completely myself.

Brees' dated other guys before, but I only had her. My only friend was Bree since I am too much of a nerd. Bree tried getting me to make friends, but that failed. She is the only friend that I want, and the only one I will ever need.

There were three of us at one time, but he left in fifth grade or was it sixth? Anyway, Bree tells me she has dreams of him. I do not know. The guy left without a trace, and I was not that close to him.

My brother's in college, but lives at home. He told me that he works at this restaurant a few times, but I keep forgetting the name of it. I don't really see him at home that much, but when I do, he is in his room.

"Peter, dinner!" Mom called from downstairs. I felt my phone vibrate in my pocket. I know I shouldn't keep my mom waiting, but Bree comes first. Mom isn't the type of person to let you go to bed before eating dinner. She told me if I at least eat dinner, I will be good for the next day.

Hey, I texted on my new phone that I bought last month. My brother threw my flip-phone out the window once since he was reading a text, and I was trying to get it back, and that happened three months ago.

A few minutes later Bree texted: What's up?

What's up? That's all I get? ok. Bree has never sent that sort of text before, but I'm guessing she must be busy getting ready.

How are you? I asked her.

Busy, there's a girl missing. Bree texted.

Just as I figured she's reading the news while we talk.

That's the fourth one this month, and Bree might be next! Fear rose inside of me.

Let's talk about this face to face. I replied.

She went to the same school as the other one...... Bree texted back.

I turned off the phone not wanting to read the rest of the text. So, it's still the other two high schools. Well, there are only three schools in this town. I shoved my phone in my pocket. Bree will probably want me to reply to her text soon.

I got out of my room and went downstairs.

Mom was talking with my stepdad. My brother must still be working.

"There's another missing girl," mom told my stepdad.

This has been going on for weeks.

The T.V was on the news channel.

"This is the fourth one this week," My stepdad replied.

I walked over to the small coffee table that we have had since I started middle school.

"Nine this month alone." Mom reminds him.

I raised an eyebrow. I needed to know more about this.

"Ten's bean the max so far, and has always ended on ten," my stepdad told her.
