When five o'clock rolls in Loki starts on a quick breakfast of bacon eggs and toast. Raven walks out to take care of the animals and Zombie and I start the patrol. After the long drive around the property and we see all is clear around the barrier we head back to the house. We come in just in time for Raven to wake up the trainees, I hear the alarm go off and the same reaction I got the day before. I just laugh along with Zombie and Loki as we set the table for everyone, secretly still despising the damned sound. By the time everyone slinks upstairs, pondering what the new day holds in place, breakfast is on the table. The trainees eat their food along with Raven, Loki, and Zombie. I walk to get the old schedules replacing them with the new ones and set them on the table. I then make my way to the arsenal room up on the third level of the house closest to the room for sparing. I walk back down the stairs at 6:35 and sternly remind,
"You all have five minutes to bullet time! The meeting is upstairs on the third level, the only room with an open door. Your dishes also need to be done before the meeting. Whoever loses a bullet cleans the entire mess hall today."
Everyone shot off their asses and ever so gently slammed dishes in the sink fighting for a spot to wash them. It's a wreck of a time and we're getting closer to some of them losing a bullet. I shake my head ignoring them and go back up to the room I started in with Z and Loki following behind me but stopping off in their rooms. I can hear what sounds like a herd of elephants stampeding into the room just seconds before time. I do a quick head count and wait to be joined by my fellow instructors. Loki and Zombie show up without Raven, I roll my eyes knowing that she stayed behind to do their dishes and remind myself I will have to correct that today. Zombie looks at me with that look and I just nod along knowingly. Raven eventually makes her way in and finally we can begin the class. Zombie speaks first,
"Good morning kiddies, this begins Dead School. A three month course on how to do the job of a hunter. You will listen to all of your professors and the rules we have in place."
Then Raven took the spotlight,
"And any infraction to follow rules will cost you a bullet, and mess hall duties."
Loki chimed in at this moment in his usual tone of intimidation,
"Rules include, listen to any and all professors, don't forget you are still learning what the professors already know, don't be late to a class, no disrespecting a professor, no eating when not told to, no walking off on your own, no sleeping in a bed with another trainee, don't forget during the day Professors are not your friends, and finally the second and third floors of the house are off limits unless instructed."
I continue with a tone of importance,
"We know the rules are a lot. We just ask that you follow them as it will make our lives easier, and yours. These rules will also help you when you move forward to be on a team and not in a training status. Not all of your Professors will be teaching at once but we will all pop in randomly, so beware, we are always watching. Your classes will start at seven o'clock, you will have five minutes in between classes, but even a minute late and you pay a bullet."
Then all of us together
"Welcome to Dead School."
Zombie finishes the meeting by the addition,
"Your next class is in ten minutes and it's in here so you have ten minutes to yourselves. If you have any questions ask away, we are here to teach you to survive, not throw you to a hoard."
We all go to separate rooms in the hall and prepare to answer questions, I take the longest due to lack of patience from little sleep and the pain in my body increasing with every step. I see Gunner walking up to the room that Zombie is in. I shove it off easily this time, because Jaden is in front of me quickly pelting with an unexpected question.
