I slowly swayed from side to side while being strung by my wrists. The gang surrounding me laughs and throws cash on the floor as they bet who will get my mask off. They somehow managed to disable my suit's security countermeasures- which means, no Delta. Nice to know she's on the security system settings and not the software's general settings. They've got tech so I'll give them that, looks like there are some new technologies on the streets- might have to look into a black market. God, I hate the dark web. One of the criminals splashes beer in my face and bellows amongst his boys.
That pissed me off.
"So, who ya got your money on? The guy with the broken jaw or the one with the broken neck?" I asked before I clenched my fist and pulled as hard as I could. SNAP! The wire rope rips and I drop onto the floor, the commotion comes to silence and they back away from me. They begin to mumble amongst each other. "What's wrong, guys?" I cracked my wrists and stretched them around. "Why'd ya stop laughing? I want to hear the joke- I wanna laugh too." I examined my surroundings and suddenly, the security countermeasures kicked in. That means Delta.
"He's free! He's ready to fight! What are we gonna do?!" one of them shouted. They all draw their guns and knives and face me. "Hey! Hey! Do you have any idea how much he's worth ALIVE?" He shouted.
"I bet the suit is worth more!" another one replied. He charges me with his knife and I catch his hand and break his arm. "AGH!" He winced. I tug his arm down and force him towards my knee. KRACK! I kneed him hard in the chin and put him to sleep.
"I count 7 more, Mr. Pulse," Delta informed me,
"Anyone else wanna try? Where's your boss?" I asked. I summon my staff, twirl it around my body and then hold it tightly in my right hand. They all charge at me at once, I block one of their swings, scoop him off his feet with my staff, and strike his chest. I turn to the other one and he pulls the trigger. 5 bullets hit my suit and fell to the floor. CLICK! CLICK! CLICK! "He was right. The suit is worth more." I shrugged. I headbutt him to the ground and convert my staff into two batons. I beam them at their heads and knock down two more. 2 left to go. PSSHH! A sudden crash startles us and a figure drops from the ceiling and lands on the floor. The figure rises slowly and raises his guard.
"Of course, you didn't wait for me..." He said. It was Quoke. Guess he learned the ways of a dramatic entrance. He blasts the last two into the walls and it leaves them out cold. "How'd you find them? Why didn't you let them know?"
"They have their way of working, I have mine," I said. I walk over to him and raise my fist for a fist bump. He ignores it. I lower my hand and start to talk. "Plus, I had a plan. I needed one awake. Their boss isn't here. That's who I'm trying to get to"
"Are you sure one of them isn't the boss?"
"Yeah, I'm sure. I'd recognize his ugly mug." I pick one of them off the floor and place him in the metal chair. "You wanna do it? I know you hate to be here for my methods."
"Yeah, I got it." Quoke punches him in the stomach and the thug wakes up in a panic and starts to cough.
"How's Link?"
"He's okay. He misses you...wouldn't hurt to shoot him a message..." Quoke shakes the thug by the shoulders. "Where's the boss? Tell me. Or my partner can do his version of this."
"No, no need for that. I'll talk. He's at the diner." He said.
"The city diner? Why?-" I asked.
"Yeah, that one. His father opened it months ago and he's been pushing drugs through it for weeks."
