Logans pov:
As the soft morning light streamed through the curtains into the room, I woke up to the sound of Effy's steady breathing beside me. I stretched and sat up, rubbing the sleep out of my eyes. I glanced over at Effy, still sleeping soundly, and a puzzled look crossed my face. Last night, she had disappeared shortly after we started our game.
Frustration began to well up inside me as I recalled her strange claim. It didn't make any sense. I had counted to well over 50 seconds while she was hiding, and when she had suddenly emerged, she was claiming that she had been gone for hours. It was utter nonsense.I looked at her sleeping form, wondering if she was playing some kind of joke on me. But she seemed to be sleeping peacefully, without a care in the world. I found it hard to believe that she was deliberately trying to deceive me, but her claim about her disappearance simply didn't add up.
I decided to wait a bit longer before confronting her about it, allowing her to wake up on her own. As I waited, my thoughts swirled with questions and doubt. Could there be any truth to her claim? Or was she just playing a strange prank on me?
Time ticked by slowly, and I grew more and more impatient with waiting. The sun was fully out now, and the room was filled with a bright, warm light. I couldn't stand the suspense any longer. I leaned over towards Effy and gently shook her shoulder.
"Effy," I said, my voice betraying my irritation. "Wake up."
Effy stirred, groggily opening her eyes as she woke up. She looked up at me, a hint of surprise in her eyes as she saw my exasperated expression.
"Good morning, grumpy," she said, her voice still thick with sleep. "You're up early."
I couldn't help but roll my eyes at her carefree tone. "Yeah, I'm up early because I have some questions for you," I said, fixing her with a stern look.
I saw a flicker of confusion in Effy's eyes as I mentioned having questions for her. She sat up straighter, looking at me with a mix of curiosity and wariness.
"Questions...about what?" she asked, her voice suddenly sounding a bit more guarded than before.
"About last night," I said, watching her closely for a reaction. "You know, when you 'disappeared' for a few hours?"
Effy's eyes widened as I mentioned her disappearance from the night before. She seemed caught off guard by my blunt question, and I could tell she wasn't expecting me to bring it up so directly.
"What... What do you mean?" she asked, her voice faltering slightly. "What about it?"
I could see the hint of nervousness in her expression, and I knew that she must know exactly what I was talking about. "Don't act like you don't know what I'm talking about," I said, my annoyance growing. "Last night, you disappeared while we were playing hide and seek. And then, when you came back, you said you'd been gone for hours."
"I was gone for hours!" She said
I scowled at her stubborn response. "No, you weren't," I said firmly. "I counted to over 50 seconds while you were hiding. There's no way you could have been gone for hours."
"I was in narnia" she said.I couldn't help but let out a scoff at her ridiculous claim. "Narnia?" I repeated incredulously. "what in the bloody hell is Narnia?" As soon as the words left my mouth, I could tell I had made a mistake. Effy's eyes lit up, and a mischievous smile spread across her face.
"Have you not heard of Narnia?" she asked, her voice dripping with faux innocence. "It's an incredible place, filled with magic and wonder. And," she added pointedly, "I was there last night."
