Growing Closer

Two months had passed since Felix revealed his true identity to Y/N. Despite the initial shock, she had come to accept and even appreciate having a guardian angel by her side. Felix continued to attend school, blending in effortlessly with the other students, but Y/N knew he was always watching out for her.

Y/N's parents were still in the midst of their divorce proceedings, and the tension at home was palpable. Yet, Felix's presence brought her a sense of comfort and security. They spent a lot of time together, both in and out of school, and their bond grew stronger with each passing day.

One afternoon, Y/N and Felix were sitting under their favorite tree in the park, studying for an upcoming exam. The late autumn sun cast a warm, golden glow over the scene, and for a moment, Y/N felt at peace.

"You're really good at this," Y/N said, looking up from her textbook. "I don't know how I'd manage without you."

Felix smiled, a faint blush coloring his cheeks. "I'm just glad I can help."

They sat in comfortable silence for a while, the only sound being the rustling of leaves in the gentle breeze. Y/N couldn't help but notice how the sunlight highlighted the golden strands in Felix's hair, making him look even more angelic.

"Felix," she began hesitantly, "can I ask you something?"

"Of course," he replied, turning to face her.

"Do guardian angels ever... fall in love?"

Felix's eyes widened slightly, and he looked away, a troubled expression crossing his face. "It's... complicated," he said after a moment. "We're here to protect and guide, not to get involved emotionally."

"But what if you do?" Y/N pressed, her heart beating faster. "What if you can't help it?"

Felix sighed, running a hand through his hair. "It's rare, but it has happened. When a guardian angel develops feelings for their charge, it complicates things. It can make their duties harder to fulfill."

Y/N looked down at her hands, feeling a mix of emotions. She didn't want to make things difficult for Felix, but she couldn't deny the growing feelings she had for him. "I think... I might be falling for you," she admitted quietly.

Felix reached out and gently lifted her chin, so she was looking into his eyes. "Y/N, I care about you more than anything. But you have to understand, our relationship is different. My first priority is to keep you safe."

"I know," Y/N said, her voice barely above a whisper. "But it doesn't change how I feel."

Felix smiled sadly. "And it doesn't change how I feel either. But we need to be careful. If something were to happen to you because of me, I don't know what I'd do."

Y/N nodded, understanding the gravity of the situation. "We'll take it one day at a time," she said. "Just promise me you'll always be here."

"I promise," Felix replied, his voice filled with sincerity. "I'll always be here for you, Y/N."

As the sun began to set, casting long shadows across the park, Felix and Y/N sat together, their hands lightly touching. They didn't know what the future held, but they knew they would face it together, come what may.
