"The circus, you say?" [F/N] repeated as she and Francis looked at Ciel with intrigued eyes.
Ciel nodded and replied, "Yes. So says the Queen in this letter."
After discussing their history of cases and assignments they've received from Her Majesty in the past, they were dealt with a letter assigning them to a new case from none other than the Queen herself.
This new case involves a series of kidnappings. Children have been disappearing from their villages and towns without a trace. However, there are rumors that the culprits may be the new traveling circus going around England. Noah's Ark Circus.
All the disappearances occurred in the exact towns the circus has performed in. Still, it is not certain that they truly are the ones responsible for this. Therefore, Her Majesty wants the group to investigate, get to the bottom of this mystery, and take care of the problem.
She hopes that the children return home safe and, well, alive.
Francis grinned like a Cheshire cat. "Hmmm~ This sounds like an interesting case. Wouldn't you say, my lady?" he said and looked to his master who was currently reading the letter that was laid out on the table.
[F/N] glanced at him from the corner of her eye and nodded. "Indeed. In all my years, I've never been to a circus. I've done cases involving circus troupes, but I've never actually attended one myself." She set down the letter and continued, "This will be quite the new experience."
"Is that so?" Ciel said thoughtfully. He then stood from his seat and walked over to one of the two doors leading out. Before he left, he said, "Sebastian, make preparations. We will be leaving tomorrow evening."
Sebastian entered and walked in through the door on the opposite side of the room, away from Ciel, and bowed. "Yes, my lord," he responded as Ciel walked out.
Francis turned to the other butler with a bubbly smile. "If you're okay with it being me, I could help you with the preparations," he offered.
Sebastian smirked in return and replied, "Nonsense. Just relax for now. If I couldn't handle a task as trivial as this, what kind of butler would I be?" He looked to [F/N] and bowed before walking back out the door, leaving only the lady and her butler.
When he left, Francis's smile turned into a smirk. "Not a very good one, I suppose," he answered to no one in particular. His blue eyes lingered on the door suspiciously for a moment longer before he turned to [F/N].
She stood from her chair and walked towards the other door. Francis followed behind her like a shadow.
[F/N] and her servant had requested to share one big room with 2 separate beds. The reason was because if something at all happened, they could be quick to react and the other would be right there. Also, they wanted to be able to talk privately amongst themselves at anytime without having to walk through the hallways suspiciously at night.
When they reached their room, Francis opened the door for [F/N]. She took one step in, but Francis abruptly stood in front of her and shielded her protectively.
BANG!
There came what sounded like a gunshot as a bullet crashed through a nearby window and shot Francis right in the head. His body jerked and he slumped slightly against the desk beside [F/N], his blood dripping onto the floor. She reacted quickly and grabbed one of the several daggers from his back pockets. She threw it at the hole in the cracked window where the bullet originated, and it flew straight towards the hidden gunman outside. It pierced him in the chest with absolute accuracy.
