(Alli's POV)

I'm chilling out in my living room when I get a call from Nick.

"Get outside loser, we're gonna be late." He says into the phone.

"Haha good morning to you too." I laugh and grab my bag. I leave my house and get into Nick's car.

"I'm so excited!!" I say trying to contain my happiness. Today Nick and I are volunteering at our local animal shelter. We get to play with the dogs and cats, and just give them love.

"I know. I'm actually looking forward to this myself." He smiles. God that boys smile makes me melt every damn time.

We get to the shelter and before I could open my door, Nick locks it.

"What's up?" I ask him and he leans in to kiss me.

"Sorry I just knew I wouldn't be able to do that for a while because we'll be busy." He says unlocking the doors.

"Well aren't you sweet?" I tease him and he puts his arm around me after we get out of the car.

We walk inside and check in with a lady at the front desk.

"Alli and Nick her to volunteer." I say and she lets us go to the back and there we are met by a trainer.

"Thank you guys for coming!" She greets us with a big smile. "Here are the puppies, just be loving and gentle with them. They'll have a good time." She says opening the little playpen gate and Nick and I walk in. "Have fun!" She smiles and walks away.

When Nick and I enter the pen, all of the dogs swarm us. It's actually really adorable. We sit in the middle and are attacked by a bunch of dogs. Nick is petting every single one to them and talking to them like they are people. I take a smaller puppy and put it in my lap and gently pet it while it rests on my leg. Nick and I were smiling ear to ear playing with all of the dogs.

"I want a puppy so bad!" I say looking at the one in my lap.

"I do too." He sighs.

After an hour, we go to the kittens and play with them too.

"Ugh I want a kitty!!" I say pulling a piece of yarn in front of a little one.

"You just said you wanted a dog like an hour ago." Nick laughs.

"I want all of them! I'm just gonna adopt all of them." I smile looking at all the little kitties.

After we are done with the animals at the shelter, Nick and I leave and decide to go get lunch. We stop at this cute independently owned coffee shop. We both get sandwiches and sit at a table.

"I had the best time today with you." Nick says smiling and looking into my eyes.

"I had a great time with you too!" I tell him.

He holds onto my hand across the table.

"Being with you today, and seeing how gentle and sweet you are made me realize..." He pauses.

"Yes?...." I ask anxiously.

"I love you Alli. I'm absolutely in love with you." Nick says taking a deep breath. I get a big smile on my face and my cheeks blush.

"I love you too Nick." I tell him squeezing his hand.

"Wait, so you love me, and I love you?" He asks.

"That appears to be so." I chuckle at his confusion.

"This is amazing!" He says jumping out of his seat.

I stand up and throw our trash away.

"Come on Alli! We have to go tell everyone we are in love." He takes my hand and leads me out of the coffee shop.
