Chapter 2
250 Years Ago | Soul Society, Somewhere in Rukongai
On the desolate plains of Rukongai, the night air was thick with the acrid scent of battle. The moon hung low in the sky, its pale light casting long, eerie shadows over the blood-soaked ground. The Shinigami of the 11th Division moved with practiced precision, their Zanpakutō slicing through the air in a deadly dance. The clang of metal against Hollow masks and the guttural roars of the monstrous creatures created a symphony of combat.
The battlefield was a whirlwind of activity. Shinigami darted through the melee, their movements synchronized and fluid as they fought alongside their captain. Their laughter and shouts of exhilaration punctuated the night, a stark contrast to the grim determination etched on their faces. Their love for combat and unshakeable faith in Kuruyashiki fueled their every action.
Kuruyashiki Kenpachi, the formidable captain of the 11th Division, stood at the epicenter of the chaos. His imposing figure was a beacon of power and confidence. The flickering light of the moon made his zanpakutō gleam with an almost ethereal glow as he swung it with effortless strength, each strike a testament to his mastery and resolve. The energy surrounding him was palpable, a heavy, suffocating reiatsu that made even the bravest Hollows tremble.
His very presence radiated danger and authority, his reiatsu so potent that it caused the masks of the Hollows around him to tremble. To his comrades, Kuruyashiki was the epitome of strength and leadership. The battlefield was his domain, and every swing of his sword was a testament to his legendary status.
Kuruyashiki had fought the previous Kenpachi to the death in a duel and had protected his title for several hundred years. Despite his fearsome reputation, he was quite social and popular, even outside his own division. The Shinigami on the battlefield watched in awe as he moved with lethal grace, his every swing a testament to his unmatched strength.
As Kuruyashiki fought, his expression remained a mixture of fierce determination and a strange, almost serene pleasure. The satisfaction of the fight was evident in the set of his jaw and the intensity of his gaze. He relished the clash with the Hollows, his every move driven by a deep-seated love for combat. His eyes, sharp and calculating, swept over the battlefield with a predator's focus.
A sudden, sharp crack in the sky interrupted the battle. The momentary pause in the fighting drew every Shinigami's gaze upward. A massive fissure had torn open in the heavens, and from it emerged a Gillian, its gargantuan form casting a long shadow over the battlefield. The air around the Menos shimmered with its malevolent reiatsu, a dark storm of spiritual pressure that threatened to overwhelm even the bravest of souls.
Kuruyashiki's expression hardened as he surveyed the new threat. His eyes, sharp and unyielding, locked onto the Menos Grande. With a casual flick of his wrist, he dismissed the incoming threat with a single, decisive swing of his sword.
"Not you," he muttered, his voice barely a whisper yet resonating with a commanding authority The Gillian disintegrated into nothingness, its colossal form crumbling to dust under the weight of Kuruyashiki's power
His focus was already shifting back to the crack in the sky.
The fissure quivered and began to spew out a flurry of countless white threads, which wove and interwined together in the air like a living, pulsating net.
Kuruyashiki's eyes narrowed with a mix of curiosity and anticipation as the net ensnared his Zanpakutō. He felt the pull, a tug of war between his immense strength and the net's relentless grasp.
The struggle was brief. Kuruyashiki's muscles tensed as he fought against the net's pull. The threads tightened around his weapon, drawing him closer to the crack. The tension in the air was palpable, the other Shinigami momentarily pausing in their fighting to watch the spectacle.
