THE PARKER RESIDENCE

GRACE

The next morning, I woke up feeling more optimistic. Last night's game night had been fun, and it seemed like things between me and Alexander were slowly getting back to normal. As I got ready for school, I wondered if today would bring more opportunities to reconnect.

Downstairs, I found William already eating breakfast. "Morning, Gracie," he said, grinning.

"Don't call me that," I replied, grabbing some cereal. "Ready for another thrilling day at Lincoln High?"

"Always," he said sarcastically, rolling his eyes. "But at least the project is done."

We finished breakfast and headed to school. As we pulled into the parking lot, I saw Alexander talking to Cleo near the entrance. I hesitated for a moment, then decided to approach them.

"Hey, Cleo. Hey, Alex," I greeted them with a smile.

"Morning, Grace," Cleo said, her smile bright. "How are you?"

"I'm good, thanks," I replied. "Ready for another day of classes?"

"Always," Cleo said, mimicking William's tone.

Alexander chuckled. "Hey, Grace. How was the rest of your night?"

"It was good," I said. "Game night was fun."

"Yeah, it was," Alexander agreed. "We should do it again sometime."

"Definitely," I said, feeling a bit more hopeful about our friendship.

The bell rang, signaling the start of the school day. We all headed to our respective classes, and I couldn't help but feel a sense of anticipation for what the day might bring.

LUNCH TIME

At lunch, I found a spot in the cafeteria and started eating. A few minutes later, Cleo joined me.

"Mind if I sit here?" she asked.

"Not at all," I replied, glad for the company.

We chatted about our classes and mutual friends, and I realized that Cleo was actually pretty cool. It was nice getting to know her better outside of the context of my brother's friend group.

"So, do you have any plans for the weekend?" Cleo asked.

"Not really," I said. "Probably just hanging out at home. You?"

"Same here," she said. "Maybe we could hang out? Get to know each other better."

"Yeah, I'd like that," I said, genuinely pleased by the suggestion.

AFTER SCHOOL

As the final bell rang, I headed to my locker to grab my things. I was surprised to see Alexander waiting for me.

"Hey, Grace," he said, looking a bit nervous. "Can we talk?"

"Sure," I said, closing my locker. "What's up?"

"I just wanted to apologize for how things have been between us," he said, looking me in the eye. "I miss our friendship, and I want to make things right."

I was touched by his sincerity. "I miss our friendship too, Alex," I said. "And I want to make things right as well."

"Maybe we could start over?" he suggested, offering his hand. "Hi, I'm Alexander."
