(A/n, yes I know that there's no such thing as identical twins when it's a girl and boy, but Thorn and Dia love each other that they like to match)

Thorn's POV: As flames licked at the air, casting shadows that danced wildly around me, panic surged through my veins like wildfire. Separated from Dia by the merciless inferno, I fought to keep my fear at bay, to be the pillar of strength she needed me to be.

"DIA!" I called out, my voice hoarse with desperation, hoping against hope that she could hear me through the roar of the flames. "I'll be alright. Find a safe place to hide, and I'll find you."

But her response pierced through the chaos like a dagger to my heart. "NO!" she cried, her voice trembling with fear and anguish. "I can't lose you. You're all I have left."

My resolve faltered for a moment, the weight of her words crashing over me like a tidal wave. But I knew I had to be strong, for her sake, for our sake. "Dia," I said softly, my voice barely above a whisper, "I will find you. I promise. Just go."

With a heavy heart, I turned away from the flames, forcing myself to focus on the task at hand. I ran, fueled by a determination born from love and duty, knowing that every step I took brought me closer to Dia – to the family I had sworn to protect at all costs.

As I sprinted through the night, the image of Dia's watch, the one I had given her on our birthday, flashed through my mind. I knew that if I made my promise, the dragon symbol – our family's sacred vow – would appear on it, a silent testament to my unwavering commitment to finding her, no matter the odds. And with that thought burning brightly in my mind, I pressed on, guided by the hope that one day soon, we would be reunited, stronger together than we had ever been apart.

As I scrambled up the tree, seeking refuge from the encroaching horde of zombies below, a sense of temporary relief washed over me. Perched high above the chaos, I tied myself securely to the sturdy branches, the rope serving as a lifeline between me and the ground below “Thank Merlin zombies can't climb trees.” I mumbled.

In the relative safety of the tree, exhaustion weighed heavily on my eyelids, and despite the ever-present fear gnawing at my gut, sleep claimed me in its embrace. But even in the depths of slumber, the specter of danger loomed large in my mind, my dreams haunted by visions of Dia, alone and vulnerable amidst the relentless onslaught of the undead.

I awoke several times throughout the night, my heart pounding in my chest, consumed by a visceral fear for my sister's safety. Each time, I whispered silent prayers into the darkness, willing her to be safe, and to find shelter from the storm raging outside.

"Dia, please be safe," I murmured, the words a fervent plea to the universe. "I know you're strong, stronger than me." In the stillness of the night, my words hung in the air like a silent vow, a testament to the unbreakable bond between us, and the unwavering hope that guided my every heartbeat.

The next day I ventured deeper into the old science building, my eyes fell upon containers of pills, their purpose shrouded in mystery. Curiosity piqued, I approached them cautiously, my mind racing with questions.

"What the heck? What are these things for?" I muttered, my fingers tracing the labels on the containers. And then, as if in a dream, I saw the words that sent a shockwave of disbelief through me: 'Zombie cure.'

My heart raced with excitement and disbelief. Could it be true? Could these pills hold the key to reversing the horrors of the apocalypse?

But as quickly as hope surged within me, a wave of caution crashed over me. I couldn't afford to take any chances – not when Dia's life hung in the balance. I needed to be certain, to test the efficacy of the cure before risking her safety.

With trembling hands, I pocketed as many pills as I could carry, my determination fueling my resolve. I had to find a way to test them – to prove that they were indeed the salvation we had been searching for.

As I continued my search for Dia, the familiar sounds of the undead drew near, sending a chill down my spine. In a desperate bid for safety, I climbed into an air vent, my heart pounding in my chest as the zombies passed by below.

And then, as if guided by fate, an opportunity presented itself. With trembling hands, I opened one of the containers and dropped a pill into a zombie's mouth. I watched in awe as the transformation began, the creature slowly reverting back to its human form before my eyes.

"Holy cow, these pills work," I breathed, a surge of hope coursing through me like wildfire. With this newfound knowledge, I knew that there was still hope – hope for Dia, hope for humanity, hope for a future where the shadows of the past could be left behind.

Panic surged through me as I dashed through the building, calling out for Dia in a desperate whisper, but there was no sign of her. Frustration boiled within me, mingling with the ever-present fear that threatened to consume me whole.

"Dang it," I cursed under my breath, my heart pounding in my chest as I ran out into the open, scanning the area for any sign of my sister. But before I could react, I collided with a zombie, the shock of the impact knocking the breath from my lungs.

"Crap," I muttered, scrambling to hide as the creature turned its vacant gaze in my direction. But it was too late – it had seen me, its hunger-filled eyes locking onto me with a deadly intensity.

With a surge of adrenaline, I turned and ran, my heart pounding in my ears as I fled from the relentless pursuit of the undead. But as I glanced over my shoulder, horror washed over me as I felt the searing pain of teeth sinking into my flesh.

"AAHHHH!!!" I screamed in agony as the zombie's bite tore through my shoulder, leaving me reeling in pain. With a desperate instinct for survival, I kicked the creature away and fired my gun, ending its twisted existence in a burst of gunfire.
